What are the core competencies of Chinese language courses in compulsory education?
The 2022 version of the compulsory education Chinese curriculum standard stage goal requirements are expressed in four aspects: "literacy and writing", "reading and appreciation", "expression and communication", and "sorting and exploration".
The "Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards (2022 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "2022 Edition Curriculum Standards") starts from the core competencies of the Chinese curriculum and constructs a literacy-based goal system. This system consists of two levels: "overall goals" and "school stage requirements". The first level is the "overall goals", which is the quality standard that students in the compulsory education stage should ultimately achieve after nine years of study, and is the final goal of the Chinese course;
The second level is the "study stage requirements", which is the specific academic quality level that should be achieved in the four stages of compulsory education, which is the process goal of the Chinese curriculum. The end goal governs and determines the process goal, and the process goal supports and points to the end goal. The two levels of curriculum goals are unified in the fundamental purpose of the core competencies of the Chinese curriculum.
The 2022 version of the curriculum standard expresses the overall goals of the compulsory education Chinese curriculum into the following nine items:
1. In the process of Chinese learning, cultivate patriotism, collectivism, Socialist ideology and morality gradually form a correct world outlook, outlook on life, and values.
2. Love the country’s common language, feel the unique value of the language and works, understand the richness and breadth of Chinese culture, absorb wisdom, promote advanced socialist culture, revolutionary culture, and excellent traditional Chinese culture, and build a cultural confidence.
3. Care about social and cultural life, actively participate in and organize cultural activities on campus and in the community, develop practical skills such as communication, cooperation, and inquiry, and enhance awareness of social responsibility. Experience diverse cultures and absorb the essence of excellent human culture.
4. Recognize and write commonly used Chinese characters, learn Chinese pinyin, and be able to speak Mandarin. Actively accumulate and sort out basic language materials and language experience, gradually develop a good sense of language, and initially understand the rules for using language and characters. Learn to use commonly used Chinese reference books, use a variety of media to learn Chinese, initially master basic Chinese learning methods, and develop good study habits.
5. Learn to use a variety of reading methods and have independent reading ability. Able to read daily books, newspapers and magazines, begin to appreciate literary works, and read simple classical Chinese with the help of reference books. Learn to listen and express, and initially learn to use spoken language to conduct interpersonal communication and social interactions in a civilized manner. Able to use written language to express one's knowledge, experience and ideas in a clear and concise manner as needed.
6. Actively observe and perceive life, develop association and imagination, stimulate creative potential, enrich language intuition, improve language expression and creativity, and enhance image thinking ability.
7. Be willing to explore, be diligent in thinking, initially master thinking methods such as comparison, analysis, summary, reasoning, etc., think about problems dialectically, express your opinions well-founded and responsibly, and develop the ability to seek truth from facts, The attitude of advocating true knowledge.
