Ningqiang county is located in the southwest corner of Shaanxi Province, bordering Sichuan in the south and Gansu in the west. There are two major water systems in the county, Jialing River and Hanshui River, which contain hydropower resources of174,600 kilowatts. The total installed capacity of developed small hydropower stations is 1.23 million kilowatts. Erlangba Hydropower Station, a provincial key construction project under construction, is planned to have an installed capacity of 50,000 kilowatts and an annual power generation capacity of 200 million kWh.

Ningqiang is located at the eastern end of the national key scenic spot "Jianmen Shudao", with mountains and Cui Wei, majestic caves and valleys, falling snow, lush trees and beautiful scenery of Qinba, which makes history in an instant.
