The veil (1)

My desire to read Mao Min's works was aroused by my good friend Akinuma Miho, who shared Mao Min's works in a large amount of space, and I was deeply impressed. I must start with Mao Min's books and have a quick look.

The Moon and Sixpence is the first one, followed by The Veil, and the shackles of human nature.

The first book, The Moon and Sixpence, has been read and made a simple book review. This year, I plan to read this book completely and carefully again. I believe that every time I read it, I will gain something new.

The second book, The Veil, is being read, and the first reading can be completed in June. In order to ensure the reading quality, plan to take notes while reading. After reading, go back and look at the notes you have written and make some improvements. (I finished my first reading in June)

In order to ensure curiosity and thinking in reading, I will watch the movie after reading the paper "The Veil". If I feel deeply, I can consider writing another film review.

The third book, The Chains of Human Nature, is scheduled to be read for the first time in July or August.

I began to read The Veil carefully on June 15th, 222.

Read Section 1-17 (P43)

This book is a novel written by Mao Min with Hongkong as the background after traveling in China for more than four months.

The title of "The Veil" comes from Shelley's sonnet:

Don't lift this curtain: Oh, people just call this

life, although it doesn't have a true picture;

It just imitates what we want with casually painted colors

-while hope

and fear, twin fate, hide behind,

weave illusions into deep caves.

There was a man who, I know, uncovered it-

He wanted to find something to pin his love on,

but he couldn't find it. And there is no

real object in the world that can make him move slightly.

So he drifted in the indifferent crowd,

became the light in the shadow, a little bright spot

fell on the gloomy scenery, and he was also an elf

pursuing the truth, but like a "preacher"

When Kitty and Charlie were passionate, someone pushed the door, and Kitty was afraid and flustered, Charlie? Townsend is much more sophisticated. The doorknob turned and someone came, but the person didn't come in. Kitty and Charlie calculated many possibilities, and the result was the one they didn't want to believe, that is, Walter discovered the fact of their affair. However, Walter was so restrained and forbearing that he didn't expose their affair on the spot.

Why did Kitty move on soon after she got married? It turns out that Kitty, who was born in a rich family in England, has a beautiful face. Originally, her mother hoped that she could find a good family to marry and improve her family status. As a result, Kitty has never been able to find a husband who wants to get married. At the same time, her sister Doris has found a husband and will get married soon. Kitty's mother also wants Kitty to get married quickly, and she doesn't care who she marries. She can't stay at home any longer. At this time, Walter proposed to her, which just can get Kitty out of the current embarrassing situation, and after getting married, Walter took her out of England to go to Hong Kong. Life in Hong Kong sounds good and meets Kitty's expectations. So Kitty married herself hastily, without considering that she didn't love Walter.

Within three months of marriage, Kitty found herself making a big mistake. Kitty, 25, is like a dying flower, lifeless.

So, at a party, Kitty and Charlie fell in love at first sight. There was a subsequent betrayal. A dying flower, seeing Charlie, seems to suddenly become a graceful rose, and her bright eyes have injected new meaning.

soon, they fell in love. Underground, secretly in love.

in kitty's heart, Charlie? Townsend is everything, as long as Charlie? Townsend is willing, and she will not hesitate to have a big fight with her husband and get a divorce. She naively thought, Charlie? Townsend will love her as deeply as he loves him. Therefore, she has the confidence to betray, and she is more intoxicated and obsessed with the passion and happiness of cheating. Kitty is daydreaming wildly, dreaming of marrying Charlie one day and living a beautiful life with real love and status.

In her heart, she compares Walter and Charlie, and Charlie is many times better than Walter.

"I've had enough!" Kitty said loudly.

However, she has to solve her marriage problem with Walter first. How to solve it? Look forward to

1. sentences that reflect Kitty's frivolity, vanity and stupidity

1. Of course, it's stupid for them to have sex in her house in broad daylight, but if he wants her to do that, she can't afford to be careful and cautious.

(A furtive love affair is enough to make Kitty lose her mind. It's right to yearn for a beautiful love, but it's wrong to think blindly, have no basic knowledge of life, and lack judgment on whether things are right or wrong. How superficial she is! Absolutely. As the wife of a bacteriologist, no one will really take her seriously. This made her very angry.

(I have no independent personality at all, and I need others to give me my sense of existence and dignity! )

while daydreaming, there is always a worry in her heart. This feeling is very interesting: it is like an orchestra composed of woodwinds and strings is playing an idyll, while the bass of the drum group is gentle, but it strikes a rhythm with ominous omen.

(daydreaming without foundation is like an eagle surging. But indeed, it has its own tragic color. )

he has no sense of humor. She hates his arrogance, his indifference and his self-control. When you only care about yourself and have no interest in anyone or anything else, it is easy to be self-restrained and cautious. She has an instinctive rejection of Walter. She wouldn't let him kiss her. What makes him so self-righteous? He dances so badly that at the party, he will only spoil everyone's fun. He can neither play nor sing. He can't play polo, and tennis is just so-so. Is he good at bridge? But who cares about that thing?

(What a contrast between idealism and irrationality. The advantages of her husband have also become shortcomings, and everything about her lover Charlie is good. So, distorted cognition, is EQ'' "? )

(5) Charlie told her that he couldn't figure out why she was willing to put such a flower in Walter's pile of cow dung.

(Charlie really knows how to sow discord and flirt. Who told Kitty to love him? She lost her head in love. Kitty's terrible stupidity and vanity. )

2. Showing Walter's coldness and silence

① If everyone only speaks when he has something to say, it won't be long before human beings lose their ability to speak.

(Kitty, who is sociable, meets Walter, who is quiet. How lonely her heart is. She didn't appreciate the meaning behind Walter's silence, but she was only complaining superficially. )

Kitty doesn't know why he fell in love with her. She can hardly imagine any girl in the world who is more unsuitable for this restrained, indifferent and calm man. But what is certain is that he is madly in love with her and is willing to do anything that can make her happy. He is like a marionette in her hand. Whenever I think of the side he showed her on weekdays (that is, the side she only saw), she will despise him a little. She thought that his consistent mocking manner and contempt for the people and things she liked might just cover up his own fragile heart.

(Kitty did have a little satisfaction in being loved. But soon, she looked down on the husband who loved him so much. After marriage, a series of changes have taken place in my heart. Her discontent is growing day by day. That's why I cheated. If you don't cheat, you will miss the disaster and hurt yourself. )

She couldn't help laughing when she saw Walter's restrained and serious capital verification.

(Because she met Charlie, she thought that when she met love, she could laugh at her husband. Idiot immersed in false love! )

3. The description of Kitty's father impressed me deeply: a father who was running for his family had no sense of existence at home and was not respected and loved as he deserved.

He is less talkative than before, but he has always been silent at home, so no one has noticed the changes that have taken place in him. His daughters have always regarded him as a cash cow at home. In order to provide them with food, clothing, shelter and entertainment on holidays, he should work like an ox and a horse to support them. Now, knowing that it was his fault that reduced the family's income, they added some anger and contempt to his indifference. They never thought about how this thin, obedient and forbearing man feels every day. In their eyes, he is a stranger, but as their father, he should naturally love and spoil them.

(What kind of family is this? What a freak. Therefore, Kitty's mother, who is strong and equally admired, will raise Kitty like this. All the characters are serving the plot. )
