The story of nine chefs

A company of the Third Army Corps of the Red Army has nine cooks. In order to make soldiers drink water and eat, they have to build stoves, chop firewood, wash vegetables and cook every day, and they can only sleep for two or three hours every night. Crossing the snow-capped mountains, the mountains are high and the roads are dangerous, and the air is thin. Some soldiers really can't walk, and they can't stand up when they sit down and rest! The chef hurriedly brought them ginger juice and pepper water. They took care of the soldiers who ran before and after, and two comrades were tired and sacrificed when they rescued the soldiers. It is more difficult to cross the grass.

One morning, a chef was walking with a marching pot in his hand. He fell down and died silently. At noon, the troops rested, and the cookhouse squad quickly made pots and cooked ginger soup and pepper water. The soup boiled, but as soon as the cook took the marching pot off the sacrificial cook's back and gave the ginger soup to the soldiers, he plunged into the ground and stopped breathing. In the middle of the night, the monitor Lao Qian got up secretly to boil water for his comrades, regardless of his high fever. The blazing fire shone on the lying monitor-he died in the line of duty with honor.

The next day, the marching pot was brought up by another cook. When the company arrived in northern Shaanxi, all nine cooks were killed. However, in the most arduous Long March, the soldiers of this company did not sacrifice anyone because of hunger except fighting and reducing staff.

The partial sacrifice in the revolutionary ranks brought about the preservation of the overall situation. Their lives are closely linked to the safety of their comrades-in-arms, the victory of the battle and the success of the Long March.
