International Civil Defence Organization's World Civil Defence Day

Since 2002, the themes of World Civil Defence Day in recent years are: basic elements of civil defence, civil defence as a tool to maintain global solidarity in the face of disasters, civil defence and road safety, civil defence and environmental protection, school civil defence, workplace civil defence and safety, civil defence and basic first aid skills. The theme of 2009 International Civil Defence Day is "Preventive Information and Communication Skills".

On March 1 2009, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the National Civil Defence Office and the Beijing Municipal Government jointly launched a publicity campaign for World Civil Defence Day in Beijing.
