Seven types of cerebral palsy

Cerebral palsy is a common motor disorder in children, often accompanied by physical movement, posture and balance disorders. What are the types of cerebral palsy?

Spastic type

The upper limbs mainly show flexion and extension of fingers such as elbow flexion, wrist flexion and thumb adduction. The main manifestations of lower limbs are crossing legs (scissors step), hip flexion (hip upturning), knee flexion, heel pain, varus, toe flexion or upturn, etc.

Hand and foot peristalsis type

It shows that it is difficult to control the activities of the whole body and limbs with intentional and involuntary movements, including facial expressions. Vocal and phonetic organs are also affected, usually accompanied by language barriers.

Nourishing type

It is characterized by stiff limbs, resistance to flexion and extension, and difficulty in movement.
