Interest is the best teacher and the premise of everyone's success. Therefore, in English teaching activities in primary schools, we teachers should try our best to tap the interest points in the course materials and find out the interest points that students love and want to learn, so as to stimulate students' desire to learn and cultivate their strong interest in learning English.

For many years, learning a foreign language, especially the elementary education in primary school, "arousing students' interest" has become the focus of every foreign language teacher's lesson preparation. Stimulate students' interest in learning English, cultivate students' enthusiasm for learning English, make them build up their self-confidence in learning English, and at the same time cultivate students' sense of language and good pronunciation and intonation foundation, so as to lay the foundation for further study. Therefore, in English teaching, how to effectively stimulate students' interest in learning English and cultivate their enthusiasm for learning English is an important part of doing a good job in English teaching in primary schools.

in my eight-year English teaching practice in primary schools, I have made great efforts to explore and innovate, thus effectively stimulating students' interest in learning English, fully mobilizing their enthusiasm for learning English, and further improving the quality of English teaching. How to improve students' interest in learning English? I think we should do a good job in the following aspects:

First, create a good English learning atmosphere

The so-called English learning environment means that students see, hear and speak English as much as possible. For example, warning signs, placards and billboards on campus are bilingual in English and Chinese; The name of the equipment in the playground is bilingual; The class schedule, class rules and famous sayings in the classroom are bilingual and so on.

Second, use more inspiring language, praise more and criticize less

If a student makes even a little progress in the process of learning English, we should greatly praise him and make her more and more interested in learning English; On the other hand, if students make mistakes in the process of learning English, we should be more tolerant and encourage them to correct them bravely. After such a long time, they will have a strong interest and confidence in English.

Third, use a variety of means to teach and arouse students' enthusiasm

1. Cleverly use songs, jokes and stories

Most primary school students like to imitate singing. Although they can't pronounce words clearly, children are proud of it and enjoy it. Why don't we use it skillfully? There are many English learning contents in textbooks that can be expressed in the form of songs, which helps to stimulate interest and disperse difficulties. In the process of singing, you can ask and answer questions or dialogue in different roles according to the content of the song, which reflects the communicative situation in the song. Let students get rid of the mechanical, dull, monotonous and tense learning environment, eliminate study fatigue, feel the fun of learning and improve learning efficiency.

2. Appropriate use of multimedia to simulate the situation created by performance in English classroom teaching can integrate the dialogues that students want to learn, deepen students' understanding of the language, help students to establish a connection between the language and the object of expression, thus arouse their enthusiasm for learning and make students conduct English communication activities more consciously and interestingly. Students go deep into the role in the scene, consciously take the initiative to practice, and fully display their talents in the performance, which has a multiplier effect.

3. Carry out interest group activities. Every Wednesday afternoon, we carry out interest group activities, and students choose appropriate interest groups according to their hobbies. In the interest group, I divided them into several groups, each with a person in charge. They can talk freely in English and give full play to their sense of ownership, so that they will have a sense of accomplishment. In this way, students' interest in learning English will be improved.

Fourth, homework with varied designs

Let students do homework that they like and are willing to finish, which can not only consolidate the knowledge they have learned, but also enhance their interest in learning English, and achieve twice the result with half the effort.

5. Establish a harmonious relationship between teachers and students and create a harmonious emotional atmosphere

Successful teaching depends on sincere understanding and mutual trust, and on a relaxed and harmonious classroom atmosphere. It is very important to establish harmonious interpersonal relationship between teachers and students. Film and television between teachers and students is a democratic, equal, harmonious and cooperative partnership. Teachers' love is the motive force of successful education. Therefore, teachers should respect students, listen to their voices and establish a good teacher-student relationship.

Sixth, pay attention to oral communication ability

"Communication" is the experience of listening, speaking, reading and writing language skills and the advanced stage of teaching. Learning should "apply what you have learned", especially in English learning. We should let students speak English after learning it. Oral English is not an explanation course, but a skill course, which depends on hard practice and practice, and can only be effective by speaking. Primary school English can no longer engage in rote learning, and it is absolutely necessary to prevent students from getting "deaf and dumb" in English. Therefore, teachers and students are required to talk in English as much as possible in class and organize a lot of listening and speaking exercises. Students are also required to use some simple everyday expressions in school to improve the usage rate of English and strengthen the effect of oral English teaching. The teacher took the lead after class and said that no matter whether he met his classmates on campus or at the stairs, the teacher could say hello with the simplest sentence: "Hi! Boy，Howareyou？” After a period of time, when students meet their teachers after class, they will scramble to greet each other in English, forming a language habit.

In short, through these attempts in teaching, my English classroom atmosphere is extremely active, students are highly motivated, their listening and speaking abilities are greatly improved, their sense of cooperation and communication skills are also greatly enhanced, and students have a strong interest in learning English. As a teacher, I personally realized the comfort and joy brought by these changes. In the future, I will work harder and constantly use various means to stimulate students' interest in learning English, so that they can learn easily and grow up happily!
