The old photos of Jiuhua Mountain in 198 1 are not what they used to be.

Before and after the reform and opening up, American photographer Bill Hawke came to China and traveled all over the world, leaving us with precious memories of the times. 1. On the way to Jiuhua Mountain, looking down, the terraces are layered, the rice is green, the mountain road is winding, and several houses are built at the corner of the road.

2. In the position above, enlarger lens, a residential building in southern Anhui, is about two stories high. There is no horse head wall of Huizhou folk houses, and the front wall is painted with white lime.

3. In the yard hidden in the bamboo forest, the smoke from the kitchen drifts with the wind. If you look closely, it may be a temple, not like a house.

4. In front of the terraced fields on the hillside, the ridges are covered with green, and the clouds are foggy, rolling from Jiuhua Mountain behind.

7. In the foreground of Huacheng Temple on Jiuhua Mountain, there are houses on both sides. Three villagers are squatting on the steps in front of the temple, and advertisements for "economic snacks" are painted on the walls of the houses on the right side of the temple.

8. A close-up of a temple. This temple is the Kaishan Temple in Jiuhua Mountain. According to legend, it was built by Zen master Bei Du in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, Jin Qiaojue died in a temple, and his body was not rotted. Later, he was revered as the incarnation of the Tibetan Bodhisattva. 1968 The Buddha statue was destroyed, and 198 1 was built into Jiuhuashan Historical Relics Museum. The open space in the picture, with cool beds and armchairs, has become a family's resting place.

9. On the quiet Jiuhua Street, the sun shines on the wall. A little boy with black arms is walking on the stone road. His mother is waiting for him at the door with a chopsticks bowl. I think he should be told to go home for dinner.

Jiuhua Street 10, a shop, in order to prevent the sun from exposure, provoked a sun protection shed with bamboo poles, and you can vaguely see all kinds of souvenirs. The host on the left came in with a frame, and the banner on the door frame said "All the best".

Although there are not many Buddhist scenes in this 19 picture, at that time, Jiuhua Mountain, mountain people and Buddhist disciples, the realm of dust and Zen, in a sense, were in harmony. Only when there is less commercial materialism can the Buddhist community be clean.
