1. "Urban Domestic Waste Classification Marks" (GB/T19095-2019), proposed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, replaces GB/T19095-2008.

2. On November 15, 2019, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the "Domestic Waste Classification Marks" standard. In this revision of the standard, the scope of application, category composition, and graphic symbols of domestic waste classification signs were mainly adjusted. Compared with the 2008 version of the standard, the scope of application of the new standard has been further expanded. The categories of domestic waste have been adjusted to four major categories and 11 subcategories: recyclables, hazardous waste, kitchen waste and other waste. The logo and graphic symbols have been deleted. 4, 4 new, 7 inherited, and 4 modified.

3. According to reports, currently, 237 cities at the prefecture level and above in China have started garbage classification. The coverage rate of garbage classification in residential areas in 46 key cities in China has reached 53.9%, of which 14 cities including Shanghai, Xiamen, Ningbo, and Guangzhou have a coverage rate of domestic waste classification exceeding 70%.

4. In addition, 30 cities in China have introduced local laws or regulations on garbage classification, and 16 cities have included garbage classification in their legislative plans. All provinces and autonomous regions have formulated implementation plans for garbage classification. Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong provinces have issued local regulations, and local regulations in 13 provinces including Hebei have entered the legislative process.

5. The briefing meeting also introduced the “National Garbage Classification” applet. This mini program was jointly launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the China Government Network. It will be officially released and launched online in the near future based on the "State Council Client" mini program platform. It is understood that the mini program covers 46 key cities in the country for waste classification. Citizens can check the classification of domestic waste through the mini program and intuitively see the current classification signs and the adjustment of new standard signs in each city.
