Yu Shiyou (1940-2005) was a native of Xinmin, Liaoning. In December 1958, at the age of 18, he was transferred to the China Radio Rap Group.

In the early 1960s, Yu Shiyou and Ma Ji went with the rural cultural work team to Wendeng, Shandong to conduct rural surveys. Yu Shiyou left the Zhongguang rap group in 1973 at the age of 33. Ma Ji felt very sorry because the two were indeed golden partners. Yu Shiyou had been in contact with Ma Ji in his later years, and they had a good relationship, but in the end they could not cooperate anymore. After all, times have changed, and the old jokes from back then are no longer easy to repeat.

After leaving Yu Shiyou, Ma Ji also had Tang Jiezhong and Zhao Yan. Their cooperation with Ma Ji was no worse than that of Yu Shiyou. But as for Yu Shiyou, although he has been praised by countless famous people, he has never met a partner who cooperates tacitly.
