What's wrong with black and white TV?

Black-and-white TV refers to the limited range of colors that early TV sets can display, which can only display black-and-white colors and cannot display other colors. This is because the technical conditions were limited at that time, and the display screen inside the TV set used black and white tube technology. This kind of black-and-white TV is called black-and-white TV.

In the era of black-and-white TV, the output signal has only two parts: brightness signal and chroma signal. The brightness signal can be displayed normally after transmission because the human eye can see the degree of brightness change but can't feel the color, while the chroma signal can only obtain the information of three color components: red, green and blue by synthesizing the brightness signal. It can be found that the principle of black-and-white TV is to separate the three primary colors of a color picture, display them on the black-and-white screen respectively, and then synthesize the colors by human eyes. Although this method was a bit crude at that time, it has made people all over the world watch news, TV series, music and sports events.

Later, with the continuous development of electronic technology and the upgrading of TV technology, color TV has been popularized, which can present richer colors and higher definition, replacing the position of black-and-white TV. But for some collectors and the elderly, black-and-white TV sets are more likely to evoke memories and nostalgia and become the representative of emotional yearning.

Generally speaking, the black-and-white TV is caused by technical limitations under historical conditions, and it is gradually eliminated with the development of technology, but as an important record of human history, it still has its historical value and emotional significance.
