Qi Yun also said the corresponding couplet: "You risk getting married in the next life."

A young man made a couplet about this situation: "The chickens are flying and the dogs are running away." Qi Yun said without hesitation: "The mules clang and the horses crow." The young man said: "The dog is thin and has long hair." Qi Yun said that "people are poor but have short ambitions". "The dog barks like Thunder Lord"! "The cat calls (crying) the mouse." "Raise pigs and dogs, rice huller and rice mills." "Hoe the garden to plant soil, steam the wine and refine the vat." These couplets all contain the word "dog", and Qi Yun can also answer the couplets at a fast pace.

Another old man made a couplet: "A good boy won't fight for his parents' place." Qi Yun responded: "A good girl won't bother with her wedding clothes." The old man was very happy and said three good words in a row.

A man wrote the second line: "A rising tide lifts all boats." Qi Yun replied: "There is strength in numbers." The man then said "dog fleas on the bed", and Qi Yun responded with "a kind of bug under the table". A rude man responded with the line: "Shit stirrer", Qi Yun responded without caring whether he was cursing or not: "Rotten belly ghost". The rude man said again: "Just talking nonsense" and "The sky is empty and the ground is turning (there is no shadow)". Everyone laughed wildly. A young girl made a couplet: "The villain relies on his wealth and power", Qi Yun said to him: "How can a bastard be lawless?" This couplet is really amazing. A scholar seemed to have some knowledge and wrote a couplet: "Pule Dutou, the boat is as small as a shuttle, weaving beautiful things across the river." Qi Yun thought for a moment and said: "In the city of Guidong, the top of the tower is like a pen, writing heavenly articles upside down." This couplet is both neat and powerful, which is beyond the imagination of ordinary people.
