More than 20 years ago, McDonald's and KFC were a tall thing, a representative of American civilization and culture. The United States is not easily accessible, so it is very fashionable to go to McDonald's and eat American food in an American store.

So, like everyone else of that era, I have a profound memory of eating McDonald’s for the first time. It was an embarrassing experience!

McDonald's was located on the middle floor of the newest building in the center of Wuhan at that time - the fourth floor of Wuhan Plaza. After visiting Zhongshan Park with three friends from my hometown, I proudly led my classmates into the jeweled and crowded Wuhan Square, and took the escalator to McDonald's. It is said that McDonald's is very expensive. I prepared to eat at twice the price of going to the restaurant. How can I not be brave and proud?

The McDonald's restaurant was also crowded. We patrolled around to find a seat before we could get a seat. After sitting down and waiting for a long time, we realized that the United States is indeed different from China. There are no waiters in the restaurant and we need to go to the food in person. So we left two people guarding the seats, and another friend and I followed the example of others and walked to the ordering table.

When we got to the ordering counter, we had to queue up. While waiting in line, we looked at the tempting pictures on the wall, tempting chicken legs and hamburgers. The tempting American pictures were really high-end and made people salivate. When it was our turn, the waiter asked us what we wanted and how much we wanted. We were so confused that we had to walk from the front to the back of the queue, looking at the beautiful posters on the wall while discussing what to buy. After much deliberation, I couldn't figure out what to buy, because I had never eaten it, heard it from others, and didn't know what it was. In the end, I settled on the simplest set meal, priced at 25 yuan per serving. Looking at the pictures, I thought the portions on the set meal were too big, so I decided to save some money and order three portions for four people.

People who have eaten too much McDonald's must be laughing now, how can anyone eat a portion of it? Just like a joke I once saw, someone bought a KFC Family Bucket. The bucket was huge and there was a lot of food on the poster, but it turned out that there was only enough for one person and he was sued for fraud. We were in a hundred times worse mood than this family. We were hungry and longed for the United States and saw the delicious food. We spent a lot of money (at that time, the consumption level in Chinese restaurants was 5 yuan for vegetables and 10 yuan for stir-fries with meat) and bought a bunch of food that seemed like a lot, but we were not full at all. abdomen!

The most embarrassing thing is that we, who have been eating with chopsticks, don’t know how to start! My hands are dusty and sweaty, so how can I eat them? After observing for two minutes to confirm that there were indeed no chopsticks, we had no choice but to pick up the tips of the hot strips with two fingers and put them into our mouths. We were so careful and helpless as we ate! We actually ate a third of the seemingly huge hamburger in one bite. It was so puffy, warm and soft that our sharp teeth were embarrassed to bite it hard. The outside of the chicken legs is covered with a thick and beautiful shell, and the meat is hidden to find! We were embarrassed, we were miserable, and we were resentful. We shared the famous three items of food, hot sticks, hamburgers and chicken legs with most of our stomachs empty. We even had to share drinks, but we really couldn't share a straw! There was nothing I could do, I was too thirsty and my wallet was also thirsty, so I had to ask for the smallest Coke.

In this way, after spending 80 yuan, we could eat two meals in a Chinese restaurant, drink tea and eat as much as we wanted, and we had our first McDonald's together. We pretended to be happy and walked out of McDonald's hungry, cursing in our hearts that we were indeed the evil exploiting class Americans in capitalist countries.

Now, McDonald’s and KFC stores are located in various areas of Wuhan. It has changed from aristocratic food to ordinary food, and may even become junk food. The world is changing so fast! But the memory of eating them for the first time is an everlasting memory that hasn’t changed at all.

Of course, there are still many wonderful things about eating McDonald's for the first time. When you look forward to eating it, when you see the delicious pictures and smell the aroma, your mouth feels dry and thirsty. When I get a cold Coke, when I despise the delicious food in the United States as not as good as China, when I see others full of envy after hearing that they have eaten at McDonald's, my heart is filled with the taste of happiness.
