“Persistence is victory.” We have heard this sentence countless times and said it countless times, but many people find it difficult to persist consistently.

When I was in junior high school, I liked listening to music and English. At that time, someone went to the school to promote, sell repeaters, and give away tapes and word cards of Li Yang’s Crazy English, which seemed to cost less than 200 yuan. At that time, 200 yuan was really not cheap, so I didn’t buy it. Only two or three people in the class bought it. I only have a tape recorder that costs a few dozen dollars and can play tapes. Fortunately, one of these people was relatively familiar to me, so I borrowed tapes and cards from her, copied them into my notebook, and read blindly along with the tapes every day. Later, we also had listening questions in our English exercise books. Every time the teacher gave us listening questions, I always got the most correct ones. After all the listening sessions were finished, I went to the English teacher to borrow the tape and listened to it every day. When I heard the last sentence on the tape, I could say the next sentence. But those students who had Li Yang's English tapes put away their repeaters and tapes.

I started writing an English diary when I was in high school. At the beginning, I just wanted to be fresh and want to be different. Gradually I found it quite interesting. I learned a lot of correct expressions by constantly looking up dictionaries and Chinese expressions. Later, I felt that writing an English diary was too boring, so I started writing propositional compositions and semi-propositional compositions. Then ask the teacher to make corrections. In this process of making and correcting mistakes, you can't see progress at first, but then it gradually becomes apparent and there are fewer and fewer mistakes. So much so that at that time, my dad boasted in front of others: Even the teacher couldn’t correct the mistakes in my daughter’s composition. (Covering his face with his hands) Actually, my dad doesn’t know that most of it is due to the teacher. I just insist on writing essays. Without the teacher’s correction, maybe I would still be standing still. During this period, many people saw me writing essays and imitated them. Some of them lasted for three to five days, and the most lasted for only a month. In the end, I was the only one who kept writing and submitting essays.

The accumulation in high school made me stand out in college writing classes. I was very introverted at that time. I never participated in activities and rarely took the initiative to communicate with others. At that time, the writing teacher said that there would be a writing competition in the school and let me participate, so I wrote an article. After many rounds of screening by the School of Foreign Languages, it was finally decided that I would represent the school in the competition. That was the only competition I ever entered. Because of insufficient preparation and lack of experience, I only won the third prize.

In addition to writing, I also insist on listening practice, whether it is doing dictation or watching American TV series. In the listening test, I ranked first in the class, with a score of 96 out of 100. The full score for Level 4 Listening is 248.5, and I scored 225.

Due to my solid foundation in listening and writing, I can speak fairly fluently and have no problem communicating with foreign teachers. In the foreign teacher class in the class, the teacher led us to play a game. Most of us were confused and didn’t know what it meant. Then I explained it to them in Chinese. Later, I met another accomplished foreign teacher, who organized an English corner on a voluntary basis, taught us dance, told us stories, and sometimes jokes. He also liked to go hiking on weekends. Then a few of us went with him. At that time, he commented that my spoken English had some tiny problems. At that time, I actually didn’t know what my problem was. I just thought that going out for fun could not only enjoy the scenery, but also practice speaking, so I could kill two birds with one stone. I have always been curious about how he knew the locations of those different mountains. He used GPS to record the path we took each time. I really learned a lot from him during that time. Later, the contract he signed with the school expired and he wanted to move out. A few of us went to help him move his things. Before leaving, he said something very sensational: My only regret is that I didn't meet you earlier.

By chance, I discovered a software called "English Rubik's Cube Show" and practiced with it when I had time.

Get up early every day and go to the playground to read and memorize. At that time, what we studied was the obscure Gao Ying. I actually memorized it like that. Once I went to another school to find my former classmates and found that they also studied Gao Ying. I said, ah, we studied the same thing. I have memorized this article. She thought I was joking, so she said, "Try memorizing it." So I memorized it. She was stunned, and then said, I can't even read it, but you have memorized it. I said I had nothing to do and just memorized it blindly.

I have good grades, but I am not good at interpersonal relationships. So much so that those with lower grades than me got scholarships and I got nothing.

But I'm very happy. I never like to be groveling and flattering, and I won't just go along with the situation. All I know is that the knowledge you have learned belongs to you. Others can take away a lot of things, but your knowledge and habits can never be taken away by others.

After graduation, I still insisted on learning English. I also insist on publishing English programs, hoping to help more people through my own strength. Many people support me, many people recognize me, and a few talented people see my efforts and lend a helping hand to help me. For example, in the 2019 Rubik's Cube Ceremony, an English guru helped me in his circle of friends and various WeChat groups, so I won first place in the country. For example, I wanted to create a course, and a peer who had studied abroad for 5 years helped me polish the details. Maybe there are many big names that we can’t match no matter how hard we try, but the more you work, the more opportunities you have for everyone to see you.

The teaching workload is heavy, with classes every week, at least 33 periods. If it were anyone else, I would feel exhausted from a day's work. When I came back, I wished Ge You could not get up from lying down. But I think life is already so frustrating, why not follow this trend and do something you like? When I have nothing to do in the dormitory, I listen to English, and occasionally I am lazy and catch up on TV dramas. Most of the time, I like to be a translator. Although the writing is often not human-like, the process is very enjoyable, and I also learn a lot of knowledge that I usually don’t know. My roommate sometimes says: I really admire your ability to learn English. I just don't know what to do. In fact, I want to say that not all English learners are like me. Some people are better than me, some are not as good as me, and there are many people like me who are working hard to move forward on the road.

Easier said than done, and even harder to persist. But it is precisely because of this little difficulty that makes life more colorful. The road to success is not crowded because there are too few people who can walk on it firmly. Life is short, hobbies are long. Don't let the hardships of life restrain you from pursuing your dreams.
