# After reading for so many years, do you still believe that reading can change your destiny?

Of course, I believe that reading can change fate, because my husband is a witness to reading changing fate.

He was born in rural Hubei, and his parents have only primary and junior high school education. When he was in primary school, he had to walk five miles to school every day. There are only twenty children in a class. Most children have to help mow pig grass and do farm work at home after school. But his parents never take the initiative to let him do farm work, thinking that it is most important for him to read books well.

In high school, only five of these twenty children went to high school, and the rest went out to work. Only my husband and his other friend were admitted to the university. Seeing that the number of classmates around him gradually decreased, he especially thanked himself and his parents for their persistence. Even a little slack, he may join the work team. By the time he graduated from college, some students' children could already play soy sauce.

After graduation, my husband joined the largest steel group in China with his own efforts. The leading daughter misunderstood several Olympic math problems that even the teacher could not understand. She won the appreciation of the leader and gave him some exercise opportunities one after another. At the same time, he worked very hard and became an expert in a certain field.

Later, we went back to Rong development, and he went to a foreign company to do middle management. During this period, with my encouragement, I was admitted to the MBA, focusing on finance, and obtained the highly recognized international qualification FRM in the field of risk management, so as to prepare for a broader development in the future.

He often said that if it weren't for studying, he might be in a small county now. Like his classmates, his thinking and vision are certainly not so broad except income.

Perhaps even if a rural child reads a book, what awaits him after graduation is just an ordinary job and an ordinary life, but at least reading makes his life a little more possible. Reading may not change fate, but reading can change people. You can increase your knowledge, broaden your horizons and change your way of thinking. It may not change your world, but it can change your world view.
