Does Wuhu need cross-river development?

Originally, my family could have settled in the urban area of Wuhu, but my parents took me back to my hometown in Jiangbei, Wuhu, because I was acclimatized and sickly when I was a child, and the public security was not good at that time. Gangsters often asked my parents for cards as small traders. At that time, Jiangbei belonged to Wuwei County, which used to belong to Wuhu area, and later belonged to Chaohu area, the predecessor of prefecture-level Chaohu City. Later, after Chaohu Lake was divided, Wuwei returned to Wuhu, and finally my hometown was located. In just a few decades, our cognition of household registration identity has changed from the residents of Wuwei County in Wuhu, Anhui Province to the residents of Wuwei County in Chaohu, Anhui Province, and finally to the residents of Jiujiang District in Wuhu, Anhui Province. In the words of relatives in Wuhu, history has reversed and our two families have become city people again.

It is easy to find that the land along the river in Wuhan, Nanjing, Jingzhou, Jiujiang and other cities is occupied. In addition, cities are often distributed in strips along rivers.

The core competitiveness of cities along the Yangtze River is along the Yangtze River, which can bring convenient transportation, abundant water resources and relatively flat ground.

In the past, it was precisely because of the relatively underdeveloped traffic that the development of cities along the Yangtze River was limited to the Yangtze River. Now that the traffic is so convenient, there are more than two Yangtze River bridges in many cities. Why not keep the shoreline resources on the other side?

Moreover, from the perspective of urban spatial geography, once the strip city is extended too long, it will lead to inconvenient internal traffic and affect the realization of urban economic functions. The development across the river has made many cities along the river return to cluster or radial urban form, which just solved this problem.

Wuhan is a better city in this respect, which is also the future of Wuhu's development.
