How to care for Smiling Clivia and what are the words?

The flower language of Clivia: A gentleman is humble, gentle and courteous, talented but not arrogant, successful but not arrogant, living in a valley but not humble.

Care for Clivia

Clivia is afraid of both heat and cold. At temperatures below 5°C, its growth is inhibited, and below 0°C it will suffer frost damage. Therefore, "antifreezing and promoting growth" is the key to winter maintenance of Clivia. Specifically, there are the following measures.

1. Controlled fertilization

Clivia is moved indoors to overwinter. If the room temperature is 15℃~20℃ in early winter, Clivia can still grow indoors. Fertilization can be applied at this time to promote branches and leaves. Growth and buds bloom. But in the severe cold stage, the room temperature drops suddenly. If the temperature stays below 10°C, fertilization should be temporarily stopped. Because the Clivia is already in a slow growth or dormant period at this time, applying more fertilizer will not only be difficult for the roots to absorb, but will also be harmful.

2. Control watering

In winter, water evaporation decreases, and the amount of watering of Clivia should also be reduced accordingly. The pot soil should be kept moist, or slightly dry. The pot soil is not dry, do not water. But be careful not to cut off the water frequently, or to accumulate water or half-water. Otherwise it will also cause scorched leaves or root rot. However, due to the indoor heating equipment in winter, the air can easily become dry. Therefore, water should be sprayed on the leaves and basin surfaces frequently to maintain a certain air humidity.

3. Increase light

In winter, the temperature is low, and increasing light is an important condition for the vigorous growth of Clivia. On sunny days, Clivia should be placed in a place with good light. Especially before flowering, you should pay attention to increasing the light to prevent freezing and keep warm. Every half a month or so, the potted plants should be rotated 180° to facilitate the balanced growth of the leaves, which are neat and beautiful.

4. Adjust the temperature

When Clivia is grown indoors in winter, the temperature should be maintained at 15℃~20℃, not lower than 10℃. If the indoor constant temperature is kept above 10°C, Clivia can continue to grow and develop. After the arrows are released, the room temperature should be kept at about 18°C, and the temperature difference between day and night is best kept at about 6°C to 10°C. Otherwise, the flowers and arrows will bloom before they reach the appropriate height, which will cause pinched arrows.

After Clivia blooms, the temperature and light can be appropriately lowered to extend the flowering period.

5. Timely pollination

When Clivia blooms, it is necessary to select the male parent for timely pollination. Generally, self-pollination is not used, otherwise not only will the seed setting rate be low, but the variety will also degenerate. At the same time, it also affects the ornamental value and economic benefits.

6. Clean the leaves

In winter, if Clivia is placed indoors for too long, a lot of dust will accumulate on the leaves, causing the leaves to be contaminated. This not only affects the progress of photosynthesis, but also reduces the ornamental value. Therefore, you should always use warm water close to room temperature to wipe away the floating dust on the leaves of Clivia to keep it clean and beautiful. But be careful not to pour water into the heart leaves.
