The two things I regret most in life: being lazy when studying and being pretentious when making money.

I want to say that since I didn’t work hard when I was studying, it is normal to have low academic qualifications, so just accept it calmly. But now that people are middle-aged, when it’s time to make money, they shouldn’t be pretentious.

I still remember the variety show "Poor Rich vs. Rich" that I watched before, where rich people were invited to experience the life of a cleaner.

When you are running around all day about what to eat, how can you still have time and energy to think about how to develop in the future? Coming and going is a dead end!

In the case of great disparity between the strong and the weak, the weak will only become weaker and weaker, and become more and more miserable! The scariest thing in life is being lazy when you are studying and being pretentious when making money.

1. Don’t be too lazy to learn now and force yourself to learn a skill.

We always feel that we know it too late and regret not studying hard. But if you are still too lazy to study now, your life will be more difficult in the future.

Because the times are changing rapidly, if we cannot master new knowledge and new technologies, even if we are successful now, we will easily fall behind others later.

It does not mean that we need to master many subjects, but that we must be good at one subject or technology, so that we will have more advantages in the competition.

For example, if I can use CAD, I can be a draftsman. If I know PS, I can do art. With an electrician certificate, I can work as an electrician and so on.

I am 30 years old this year. I graduated from an ordinary school and am working an ordinary job. I am very replaceable. I can only keep running to avoid being abandoned.

I practice writing to develop a side job, and actively research to develop a second career. I may not use what I learn in my life, but I won’t use it when I don’t want to, and I will miss a good opportunity.

A friend asked me if you are not tired from working so hard? I want to say it’s tiring. Who doesn’t want to win easily, but ordinary people don’t have the chance to win easily. Whether reading is painful or not, it must be painful, but this pain is only temporary.

2. Develop a side business from two directions.

I often wonder: Can these ordinary employees aged 4 who have worked in the company for 10 or even 20 years still find a job after they go out?

What should I do if I can’t find it?

Many of us base our decent/undignified lives entirely on one salary, which is actually quite dangerous.

The older you get, the greater the impact and challenges you will receive, and the fewer chips and choices you have.

Maybe you are still in your early 20s and feel that you are young and it is not difficult to find another job after losing your job. But, unfortunately, everyone ages. 3 and 4 are not as far away from you as you think!

According to my many years of experience in recruitment, ordinary office workers can develop their part-time jobs in two directions: expertise and resources.

①Your expertise.

In short, it is what makes you better than the average person (such as university major, vocational skills, etc.).

First of all, we are already good at it and it doesn’t take much effort to do it. Secondly, if you do more, you can become more powerful and easily stand out.

For ordinary office workers, expertise usually comes from two sources.

The first one is the major you studied in school, so never give up your major.

For example, my friend studied graphic design, and his main job is store design. Now he has made a small program to take orders online.

The second is your career. If you have been working for n years, doing the same thing every day, and still haven't developed any special skills, then I really don't know what to say to you.

As recruiters, we know very well what kind of resume is professional and attracts the attention of companies, so my colleagues help others write and modify resumes, and provide interview guidance, charging one hundred yuan per copy. This part-time job makes full use of her expertise, and it is also very marketable. After all, there are people looking for jobs every day.

Here, I suggest that you list all the majors and skills you have, and then compare them one by one, and choose the one that you are most powerful at before considering it.

②Your resources.

If you have the resources on hand, then you can basically get rid of purely physical or mental work, and you can try to start a small business.

Now that micro-business is so developed, the threshold for doing business is really very low. But if you really want to have a stable income from starting a small business, it's best to have some resources.

This resource can be sources of goods or connections.

Maybe you have a first-hand source of goods at home, and this is your resource. For example, I work as an agent for Habit Bear to sell online courses. Because I can get the first-hand price, the price can be much cheaper than others, and the sales volume is very good.

Even if you don’t have a direct source of goods yourself, maybe your relatives and friends do? Therefore, you must know how to use other people's resources and connections.

Of course, not every part-time job/side job will necessarily be fruitful, but at least there will be more opportunities, more possibilities, and more income.

3. Able to make “unsightly” money.

When I saw sales in the past, I felt that I was really losing my job and I couldn’t do it. As a result, my classmates who sold their houses a few years ago were already financially free. And I seemed respectable, but I was still running around.

To be so humble, in the final analysis, is because of two words: no money. If we are given a reason to work hard, it must be because we are afraid of poverty.

Don’t be pretentious when you have nothing to do, and make more money when you have time. This is the best way for adults to live.

4. Encourage yourself to expand your social circle.

This may sound reasonable at first, but everything that conforms to human nature is most likely a trap.

Have you discovered a very strange and common phenomenon:

The more outstanding people are, the more they like to toss and work hard; the more mediocre people are, the more they should work hard. , On the contrary, I live a very stable life, and I am too lazy to bother.

The process of change is painful, and any kind of change requires experiencing both mental and physical suffering.

And when you go through the pain of change, you will discover a new you. Don't let yourself become a frog being scalded in warm water.

5. Reading and making money are eternal parts of life.

A person’s greatest self-discipline is to work hard when it’s time to work hard and endure hardship when it’s time to endure hardship.

If I had known before that I would live like this, I would definitely work hard instead of living a mediocre life.

Yes, there is no way to know anything in advance. But if you act now, it will be sweet in the future.
