Brief introduction of Li Ruzhen
Li Ruzhen (about 1763- 1830), whose real name is Songshi, was born in Daxing, Zhili (now Beijing), a novelist and writer in Qing Dynasty. Known as Beipingzi, he is knowledgeable and proficient in literature and phonology. The most famous work in existence is Jing Hua Yuan. When I was a teenager, I studied ancient etiquette, music, calendar and territorial evolution with Ling Tingkan (about1755-1809). Li Ruzhen is particularly interested in territorial evolution.
Li Ruzhen's disdain for stereotyped writing (a style of imperial examination in Ming and Qing Dynasties) led to his failure in life. The biggest official is Xian Cheng of Henan Province, but he is knowledgeable and proficient in phonology. When I was a teenager, there was a book "Shi Liyin's Jane". He was born honest and frank all his life. He is neither strong nor good at finding a job, and has never had a decent office.
After middle age, he felt hopeless to find an official, so he devoted himself to study. From the 60th year of Qianlong to the 20th year of Jiaqing (1795— 18 15), Li Ruzhen spent 20 years writing a book called Lace in the Mirror, which is comparable to the list of deities written by Journey to the West. The Garden of Flowers in the Mirror is the work of Li Ruzhen in his later years. Originally planned to write 200 times, only 100 times was completed. To commemorate Li Ruzhen, Banpu Town built a "Li Ruzhen Memorial Hall" in the center of the town for people to pay their respects.
