The slogan of establishing couplets in the history department

This year is the founding of Yuelu Academy 1040. Located on the picturesque west bank of Xiangjiang River, this college is one of the "Four Great Academies" in ancient China. It has a history of thousands of years since Kaibao was established in the Northern Song Dynasty in the ninth year.

Today, let's read the plaque couplets of Yuelu Academy together and feel the classic and unique charm of Yuelu Academy.

gate

Only Chu has materials;

Prosperity is in the future.

The gate of the Academy was built in the Song Dynasty. The existing city gate was built in the fourth year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty. Just above the gate, the plaque of Yuelu Academy in Song Zhenzong hangs.

According to legend, during Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, the academy was overhauled. After the completion, the master asked Yuan Yao Ming, the director of the mountain, to write couplets. Yuan told the students that "only Chu has talents", but it is difficult for everyone to get the result. Zhang Zhongjie, a tribute student, arrived and blurted out: "If you think, you will prosper." The first part comes from Zuo Zhuan's Twenty-six Years of Xianggong: "Only Chu has material and Jin is practical"; The second part is from The Analects of Confucius Taber: "When Tang Yu was in danger, he prospered in Sri Lanka".

Many people misunderstand this couplet and think that Hunan people have a big breath. But "Wei" is meaningless as a word here. It means that there are many talents in Chu (especially in Hunan), and the academies are particularly prosperous.

Toumen

Thousands of years of Chu materials originated here;

Modern Auspicious Science and the Glory of Japan.

Toumen is the first entrance to the Academy, which is located at the eastern end of the central axis and was built in 1986. The plaque of "Millennium University" presented by Changsha Alumni Association of Hunan University on the occasion of the celebration of10/0 was written by Ou Yangxun, a famous Hunan calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty.

The couplet was written by Yu Yu. Yu Yu, former researcher of Institute of Philosophy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and vice chairman of China Calligraphy Association.

The position and function of the road of uniting from Yuelu Academy to thousands of years in personnel training and academic research, as well as the great influence of Huxiang studies on China's modern academics.

opening of the ear

Accept Bigfoot;

Famous mountains in Tibet.

Behind the gate, it used to be a ceremony hall. When the Confucian Temple was expanded in the first year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty, the second mountain gate was built. There is a "famous mountain altar mat" plaque hanging in front of the door, and the author has no test. The existing plaque was copied by 1984 and inscribed by He, a famous calligrapher in Qing Dynasty. The "famous mountain" here refers to Yuelu Mountain, the tail peak of the seventy-two peaks of Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue.

Couplets were written by Cheng, the supervisor of Hunan University Hall in the late Qing Dynasty. The first part of the book, Shangshu Shundian, said: "Being at the foot of the mountain is fascinating." The second part of Preface to Taishigong's Historical Records says: "Tibet's famous mountains are attached to the capital, and they must be saints and gentlemen." It means that Yuelu Academy is hidden in the vast forest and hidden in the vast Yuelu Mountain.

classroom

If you do well, you must sharpen your knife;

Diligence is good at diligence, but not at leisure.

The couplets and "seeking truth from facts" plaque hanging in front of the eaves of the lecture hall were written by Bin Bucheng, president of Hunan Institute of Technology in modern times. Bin Bucheng was the president of Hunan Institute of Technology in the early Republic of China. 19 17 Hunan Institute of Science and Technology moved to Yuelu College.

The first part comes from The Analects of Confucius by Wei Linggong, and the second part comes from Jin Xuejie by Han Yu. It means that to get twice the result with half the effort, you must be good at using tools; If a person wants to be proficient in his studies, he must work hard and avoid laziness.

Right and wrong are judged by yourself, reputation is heard by others, and gains and losses are settled by numbers. The peak of Yuelu Mountain, the breeze in Lang Yue, Tai Chi can be leisurely;

How to repay the kindness of relatives, how to build people's lives, how to spread the sage's way, how to get on the stage of He Xi, how to balance clouds and water, and how to return to Sven.

This is the longest couplet in the lecture hall. By Kuang Min, Dean of Yuelu Academy in Qing Dynasty. Kuang Minben (1699- 1782) was hired as the dean of Yuelu Academy in the 19th year of Qianlong (1754). The original couplets were destroyed in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and now they are Yan Jialong's supplementary books.

The first part: self-examination of right and wrong, evaluation by others, gains and losses follow fate, and cannot be forced. When we climb to the top of the mountain and feel the breeze of the moon, we can know the truth of everything in the world, and the gains and losses of honor and disgrace can be put aside. The second part: how to repay the cultivation of the country and the kindness of parents, how to make ordinary people live a better life, and how to spread the excellent Chinese culture. Climb to the Hexi platform on the top of the mountain and overlook the constant clouds and water, and you will find the answer. In fact, this attitude towards life is also the embodiment of Confucianism, that is, "if you are rich, you will help the world, and if you are poor, you will protect yourself."

Kitazawa

I have learned a lot and met the sea of humanities and law here.

Show the crown of Sanxiang and see the famous mountains of the sages.

The couplet leading to the lecture hall of Xiangshui Academy on the north side was written by Zuo, a famous student of Yuelu Academy in Qing Dynasty. Because Zuo studied in Xiangshui School, he hung here.

Ninety-six: That sentence comes from "Han Biography": "Liu Xiang is a local, and nineteen-six is different." Later, it was called the general term of various academic schools. Fahai, the language of Buddhism, is a metaphor of Buddhism, which means that Buddhism is as deep and wide as the sea. "Vimalakīrti Sutra of Buddhism": "A great doctor who died of old age and illness should be grateful to Hyde." Couplets refer to the fusion and intersection of various schools in Yuelu Academy, which has formed a profound cultural heritage. Yuelu Mountain has beautiful scenery and stands tall on the land of Sanxiang. All the sages and scholars in history came here to give lectures and study, making Yuelu Mountain a famous cultural mountain.

Confucian temple

My road to the south was originally a vein of Lianxi;

The River of No Return is nothing more than the aftermath of Hunan water.

This couplet was not written specifically for Yuelu Academy, but by Wang Kaiyun, a scholar in Qing Dynasty. Wang Kaiyun, a native of Xiangtan, gave lectures at Chengnan Academy in Changsha, Hunan, and worked as Zeng Guofan's chief of staff. According to legend, Wang Kaiyun once gave lectures in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In order to test his talent, local officials deliberately inquired about the genre and source of his knowledge, so he casually wrote the couplets above.

"Tao" is Neo-Confucianism; "Lianxi" is Zhou Dunyi, the founder of Neo-Confucianism. "Great River" refers to the Yangtze River. "Xiangshui" is Xiangjiang River. Couplets appropriately show the responsibility of Hunan people and Huxiang culture to modern China.

Shiwuxuan

Have a beautiful heart and a thousand mansions;

Barometric Long Yuan 100 ft building.

Shiwuxuan is a memorial building to commemorate the school founded by the reformists in the late Qing Dynasty-Shiwuxuan School. Wu Shixuan was inscribed by the famous calligrapher Zhao Puchu.

There are couplets written by Liang Qichao in front of the porch. The first part, published Du Fu's "Cottage Broken by Autumn Wind". The second part, The Biography of Wei Zhi Chen Dengchuan's Three Kingdoms was published. The All-China Federation advises people to care about the country and the world when the world is in danger, and not to waste their lives for their own petty profits.

Qu zici

Planting pure fragrance, three generations are still straight;

The heart of the alliance is loyal to love, and after six classics, it has achieved a wonderful article.

Hunan is known as the hometown of Qujia, and Yuelu Academy began to build a special temple for Qu Yuan in the Qing Dynasty.

The plaque "Quzi Temple" and couplets at the main entrance of Quzi Temple were written by Shen Peng, former chairman of China Calligraphers Association. Couplets mean that Qu Yuan's cultivation and sentiment are as pure and noble as orchids and Cao Zhi, and praise Qu Yuan's unswerving patriotism and loyalty.

Yuelu Mountain Aimu Pavilion

The trail is red and comfortable in the evening, and 500 peaches are newly planted;

The canyon is dark and green, and a pair of tame cranes are waiting in the cage.

Love Evening Pavilion is a classic building among pavilions and pavilions in China. Luo Dian, the head of Yuelu Academy, was founded in the 57th year of Qing Qianlong. Formerly known as "Hongye Pavilion", it was later changed to "Love Night Pavilion".

The pavilion was originally hung with couplets written by Luo Dianshan: I was shocked that the brilliant red had been lost and 500 peaches were newly planted; So that the clumps can be lit, and a pair of tamed cranes can be put into cages. Now rewritten by Cheng, the three-year dean of Yuelu Academy ~
