Picking up flowers in the morning and evening

I have already written about my one-year internship experience earlier, and now I will try my best to write down my experience of finding a job during the autumn recruitment as concisely as possible. This time I will explain the industry interview process that English major students may enter after graduation in a modular manner. In general, my situation is:

On this basis, I customized a set of autumn recruitment processes for myself. In general, it is - loose at both ends, attack in the middle. That is:

Silently, the cicadas chirped in July. Autumn recruitment has officially begun.

After going through a protracted (and still ongoing) internship period, there was no hope of becoming a regular employee during the summer internship. I also followed the autumn recruitment army, which was mainly programmers, and joined the internship from July to August. Go into battle.

At this time, major public accounts have begun to "sell anxiety" in various ways. They browse the public accounts more than ten times a day, and the screen is full of——

...

Ah - so annoying.

On the other side are endless "online job search classes" and so on -

Ah - it's so disturbing!

In addition to the endless anxiety of being trafficked every day, at this stage I also joined a lot of WeChat groups to watch classes and learn about the industry. Of course, after a month, all I can remember is "The number of fresh graduates in 2020 has reached a new high..." "The Internet triggered a wave of layoffs in 2019..." "Is it a vent or a black hole? The Internet economy continues to be sluggish..." < /p>

2018 is the most difficult year to find a job in history;

2019 is the easiest year to find a job in the next ten years...

There is simply no hope.

Okay, let’s cut the nonsense and refine it. For English majors (liberal arts majors), July-August is a very important information collection period. If you don’t plan to completely transform (such as, Be a product manager, operation, programmer, etc.). What you should do at this stage is to improve your resume + collect information + submit resume + understand the industry + summarize internship experience:

At this stage, it is said to be dedicated Autumn recruitment wave, in fact, apart from submitting N number of resumes, I did nothing else. Oh wait, I still did one thing, that is, I participated in a management training camp that learned from Esi in early July. That was the closest I got to an offer.

Let me briefly talk about this management training camp...it can be a reference for friends who participate in the autumn recruitment interviews of teaching assistant institutions.

The general process is as follows:

The above process is a very routine and formal Qiuzhaobi interview. Teachers in teaching-assisted institutions are the direction that many English college students will choose in the future because: there is really a lot of money.

As far as I know, a well-known teaching aid organization started its battle early in the autumn recruitment of 2019. According to HR introduction, training camp publicity, school recruitment publicity, and what the employees (students) there said themselves, the salary structure at the headquarters of this teaching aid organization = basic salary (full-time) + class fee; of which class fee is the bulk. A classmate (a teacher who has worked at the headquarters of this teaching aid organization for more than two years) said that as long as the number of classes he leads reaches an average level, he can guarantee 1.3-1.5w after tax per month, and one or two during the winter and summer vacations and the National Day holiday. The monthly salary is up to 2w after tax. So if you want to make quick money, be in good health, and are willing to endure hardships, becoming a teacher in a teaching aid company is a good choice.

I took stock of my autumn recruitment, and the teaching assistant institutions and online teaching teacher companies I have invested in include: Xueersi North Branch, Xueersi Headquarters, Xueersi Online School, Zuoyebang, Beijing New Oriental, Tencent Penguin Education, Guangzhou Spark Education, NetEase Youdao, Century Higher Education;

The interviews at these companies lasted from July to October, and the results were:

So It can be seen that I went through a whole autumn process, and finally I rejected everything I could... Since I have done a lot of homework and the points are very complicated, I will write everything I know in the box below. I hope this is a reference for junior students who are applying for jobs in teaching assistant institutions.

Q1: Do you really have so much money? -Yes, the news is absolutely reliable. It is the best place (in terms of salary) for English college students to go after graduation that I know so far. As far as I know, GSX has offered a guaranteed annual salary of RMB 400,000 to new teachers in various subjects in its 2019 autumn recruitment. Generally speaking, a basic salary of 200,000 is guaranteed for teaching assistant institutions in Beijing.

Q2: How is the work content generally divided? -Take the example of a teaching aid organization just now. Full-time means that you have a full-time job in the company, such as the recruitment department (HR, new employee training, etc.), but this type of teaching aid organization generally has to make money if it wants to It depends on class fees, so you have to work full-time during the day. You usually have to schedule and give lectures on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, and you have Monday off (theoretically).

Q3: Isn’t that tiring? No weekend break? - Otherwise? If you want to make a lot of money, have a 955 salary, and have an easy job, then private tutoring institutions are really not suitable for you~ All the companies I applied for, except NetEase Youdao, only have one day off a week (theoretically) ← Experience it yourself.

Q4: Why do so many people require training camps? -Because one of the purposes of the training camp is to promote the company culture to you, and the other is to screen out people who are not determined to apply for jobs (for example, I am interested in learning and thinking about the north:)), and some training camps will focus on Develop your lecturing skills. Generally speaking, as long as you enter the training camp, stick with it and the company is satisfied with you, you will receive an offer.

Q5: What kind of academic qualifications can apply for? -In Beijing, you can start with a bachelor's degree; but the very obvious trend is that students from 985/211 are strongly preferred. If you come from Tsinghua University or Peking University, sometimes even your salary will be tens of thousands higher than others (such as ordinary 211 and ordinary 985), don’t ask me how I know! (Angry!) Name Century Higher Education, and call it non-Qing in 2019 Don’t want it from Beijing:) (Although I still accepted a few from Beijing Foreign University, I still felt offended (personally)).

So: If you can’t go to Qingbei for your undergraduate degree, just look up at the stars and sea and try your best for the postgraduate entrance examination. It’s very cost-effective.

Q6: Do you have any other suggestions? - Later on, I didn’t quite approve of the teaching assistant institution because it was too hard, the management was chaotic, and there were no weekends, which was very abominable to me... In addition, when you join the teaching assistant institution, you are not only a teacher, but also a teacher. Always be careful about parent complaints. You have to work very hard to ensure performance (customer acquisition, conversion rate, renewal rate, etc.) every semester, so you have to "part-time" as a course salesperson and customer service person. It can be said that your personal free time is almost Hard to guarantee.

Not to mention anything else, I feel dizzy after writing this. If you have any questions, just ask.

I am actually a complete pseudo-translation major. I used to be very enthusiastic, but after experiencing the translation internship, I really don’t want to sit there every day and drain my brain, okay? Tired TAT nevertheless Even though I encountered obstacles in my career, I still invested in several professional translation companies: Perfect World (Shanghai) Game Localization Translation, bilibili Subtitle Translation, Xiaomi Localization Translation, Huawei Translation (Shenzhen/Beijing), UnionPay International (Shanghai) Translation, Suning Translation, Haier (Qingdao) Translation, Guangdong Energy Group Translation, Youta Games (Shanghai) Translation, DJI (Shenzhen) Translation and several state-owned enterprise translators in Guangdong, Shanghai and Jiangsu.

The result is: all failed...

Either the trial translation manuscript was sent to me, and I went back and never came back ~ or I declined the interview invitation, but most of them Even my resume was not approved.

Let’s talk nonsense here for a while... In fact, when I submitted many resumes, I knew that I didn’t want to go there at all. For example, various...well, actually I don't want to go. Therefore, although several companies later did call for phone interviews or send written test questions, I dealt with it more casually. Thinking about it now, it was a waste of time, energy, and self-confidence.

Very important:

Regarding the translation post, I can only help you so much...

Strangely, I found that the people around me who choose to do English teaching and research are very Shao, why? In short, I applied to these companies for autumn recruitment: Qianliao English Teaching and Research, Liulishuo English Teaching and Research (IELTS Liulishuo), Xinshixiang English Teaching and Research, iFlytek English Teaching and Research, Shanghai Keke English Teaching and Research, VIPKID English Teaching and Research and the one I have decided on now This position (it is not convenient to disclose directly).

The results are:

I am a little tired from writing, so I plan to just summarize, not review:

English teaching and research, welcome to communicate ~

In addition to my three main areas of focus, I also applied for some positions that “although I don’t understand and have no interest in, but I can’t care about investing in it”, such as Didi Overseas Product Manager, China Ping An Education Product Manager, Byte Jump global trainer, Liulishuo overseas content operation, NetEase translation project manager, Evergrande’s stuff, China Development Bank’s stuff, Yuanfudao content operation, LiveMe overseas content operation, Jiyu Zhoutian editor, Ctrip’s overseas stuff . The results of these positions all end in resume submission, online written examination or first-round interview.

What impressed me deeply was Liulishuo’s overseas content operations. I couldn't find a job at that time (actually it was only September or early October...) and I was already so irritable that I wanted to eat my children. Lao Liu also hated iron and steel, so he used his own connections to get an internal recommendation for an interview with Liulishuo. I prepared for this interview for a long time, but during the interview, when the other person mentioned the specific operation strategy, I was completely dumbfounded. Of course, it failed, and I blamed myself for this for a long time.

Looking back now, it was also because I was so sick that I had to seek medical treatment in a hurry. In fact, if you don’t like a certain position, what you know must be very superficial. Therefore, when it comes to the interview, only superficial knowledge through reading online articles will be exposed. HR will not wait for you to join the job before teaching you from scratch. All interviews will default to "you already know my position very well, and you will be able to get started quickly." So I would like to remind all those who are looking for a job, don’t just scratch the surface when doing homework, go for an internship if you can. You will always get more insights and experiences from others reading articles online, which will be a bargaining chip for your future job hunting.

I will never forget the day I went for the interview on October 20th. The night before, the DDL that I was working on for my graduation project crashed. I received an interview invitation from the HR of ? (here used as my company's code name), and I almost refused. On the one hand, he was repeatedly frustrated in his job search and lost his mind. On the other hand, Bi She was pressed harder and harder, and he had a splitting headache. That was the time when I gave up on myself the most and had no confidence. I would burst into tears while walking on the street (mainly because of Bi She's torture)...

I almost wanted to give up, and went to ask Lao Liu miserably. Well, he said firmly that he had to go, he had to go...

The next day, he almost didn't sleep all night. In the morning, he applied three layers of foundation to the two dark circles and introduced himself in Chinese and English. I have practiced for more than an hour, and I have also practiced all the Q&A on English teaching and research all morning. Although I still feel that I am not ready, but - face the difficulties! What else can you do!

There were four or five rounds of interviews. Miraculously, the more interviews I had, the more excited I became. When I was interviewing foreign teachers, I found that the pronunciation I had practiced for several years came in handy... ̄□ ̄|| Because the other interviewees were not so fluent in speaking, it wasn’t because I was so good, it was just to set off... Well... In short, after that, I suddenly felt confident; when I gave a personal presentation in front of my later supervisor, I was like standing on the podium. The feeling of talking is so familiar! ——Thanks to the many English teacher positions I have interviewed for in teaching aid companies = = It was the first time I felt that I was so eloquent (*^▽^*). During this period, the supervisor nodded and smiled at me frequently, waiting for me to finish. I probably have some confidence in my own sharing.

After the interview, I felt that I was particularly connected to this company.

Just, that kind of indescribable kindness, I thought: ah, I really want to go to this company, I feel like I like it so much! Everything feels cute, the HR and supervisor are super friendly, I have never experienced such a comfortable interview.

At five o'clock in the afternoon, I finally made my way back home. I went out. It was snowing in Beijing that day. It was so cold, but I was so excited. I called Lao Liu and said excitedly: Liu! I think I performed well hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

?The company is very efficient. On the day of my defense, I received an email as soon as I got off the stage, notifying me——

After so many failures, finally!

Once again, I can quote the words of wisdom I learned from Baby Rujing: Do urgent things slowly, and do slow things quickly. I think every interview opportunity in the autumn recruitment is precious. If you really want it, you must seize it. I would rather face the difficulty with a slight chance of winning than use all the "Let's talk about it when you are ready~" excuse to give up on the interview.

I want to stop writing this. In fact, I continued to interview after that, but in the end I didn't complete it. One was lack of motivation, and the other was that I became more and more aware of where I wanted to go. After the road, other winding paths lost their allure for me.

Looking back on the entire autumn recruitment, I have a lot of experiences. In addition to everything mentioned in (above) (below), let’s add a few more.

1. Prepare for the written test: My written test is basically failed. Fortunately, the positions corresponding to English majors often do not require a written test - this is really a hahaha. People who learn English do not need to be tall. That thrill/surprise/surprise. But if you want to transform, such as operations, product managers, etc., you must start the written test very early. The materials I recommend will be pushed out before the job search season by the official account. Otherwise, when various factories officially enter the written examination stage in September, you will really be enthusiastic about the written examination. What a waste!

2. Don’t have an explosive mentality: To be fair, my own conditions are not bad, whether it is internship experience or academic qualifications, but I still failed many times. During your job search, you really have to get used to repeated defeats, and you must persevere in every battle. During this period, you will have strong doubts about your various abilities - I once suspected that I was not suitable for the workplace at all = = My sister’s advice is: learn from every failed interview. This time, I didn’t control my self-introduction time well. Can I practice more next time? I don’t know much about operations. Can I watch the class to learn more? Right. Very few people have a smooth journey (I can’t rule it out, but why does it have to be you, right)? You must believe that it is normal to be rejected when applying for a job.

3. Pay attention to opportunity cost: I have basically never encountered this problem, because my front line is very long, so there are very few interviews (if the front line is long enough, it is easier to coordinate, after all, there are many interviews) in batches). If you run into one, you should immediately estimate the costs of the two opportunities, and take the bear's paw at the expense of the fish.

4. Have the courage to give up an offer: If you don’t like it, let it go as soon as possible. It’s not like you have been making offers for several months and the company’s autumn recruitment is almost over. You suddenly say to HR, “Oh, I don’t plan to take it anymore.” Excuse me". Then you will basically be pulled down by HR and put on the company's blacklist. Why are you struggling with yourself and harming others?

5. Look in all directions and listen in all directions: You must have a very strong ability to collect information, and you must be brave enough to ask questions to people who have been there!

6. If someone refuses to tell you, don’t force it: If your classmate is willing to tell you about his/her autumn recruitment, it’s out of love, so it’s perfectly normal not to tell you. After all, they are all competitors. If you find out, what will you do if the company wants you? There will definitely be disappointment, but we must understand each other.

Besides, if they don’t tell you, don’t tell them either.

7. Information sharing is very important: Compare with the previous item.

I am very grateful to Xiao Qiao and other students in the autumn recruitment for sharing recruitment information with each other, including but not limited to information on seminars, recruitment special information (from different schools), interviews, test questions, etc. This will save me a lot of effort. This is called - cooperation wins!

8. Clear the direction as early as possible: Refer to my previous article "Picking Up Flowers in the Morning and Looking Back at Autumn Tricks (Part 1)" and you will know how important it is to prepare in advance.

9. Don’t panic if the autumn harvest yields no results: Although I emphasize that we must pay attention to the autumn harvest and harvest the offers as early as possible, there is no need to worry if there is no harvest. As far as I know, many English college students received satisfactory offers from spring recruitment. However, it is said that most of the spring recruitment is from state-owned enterprises and public institutions~

10. I hope it will be helpful to you. My Autumn Moves are not very hard... (Except for Bi She who comes here to act like a monster from time to time) I am already very lucky. I hope everyone will not face the Autumn Moves as if they are facing a formidable enemy. They must grasp the rhythm and do it early. Be prepared. If you are outstanding, you will definitely receive a satisfactory offer!
