According to a recent document of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, it will take effect from 20211. Couples who reach an agreement for divorce in the Civil Affairs Bureau need to go through five steps: application, acceptance, cooling-off period, examination and registration (certification). Within 30 days after the cooling-off period of divorce, both parties need to get a divorce certificate from the marriage registration office. Those who fail to apply for divorce at the expiration of the period shall be deemed to have withdrawn their application for divorce.

In addition, if the marriage is coerced, the marriage registration agency will no longer accept the request to cancel the business. According to the provisions of the Civil Law, "if the marriage is forced, the forced party may request the people's court to cancel the marriage."
