What is Mandarin? Putonghua is a national dialect with Beijing dialect as the standard pronunciation, northern dialect as the basic dialect and typical modern vernacular works as the grammatical norm. In order to promote Putonghua throughout the country, since 1998, the "Promotion of Putonghua Publicity Week" has been held in the third week of September every year.

Some people may think that "pushing the week" is a trivial matter, but it is not. Popularization activities have many important meanings. There is such a slogan in the "Language Weekly" and "Publicity Week Special Issue" supervised by the Ministry of Education: Love the national flag, sing the national anthem and speak Mandarin. Indeed, as the same language of the Han nationality, Putonghua, like the national flag and the national anthem, is a symbol of the country and the nation. Speaking Mandarin well is one of the manifestations of loving the motherland. When I heard some students swearing in Mandarin on the playground and in the corridor of the teaching building, I felt sorry for them. How can such bad words come out of the mouth of students who are receiving middle school education? What's the use of speaking Mandarin when the language is uncivilized? On the contrary, whenever I hear my classmates say "thank you", "sorry" and "never mind", I feel that I have heard the most beautiful and beautiful language.
