Altay region is located at the northern end of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at the southern foot of Altay Mountain, by the Irtysh River, and it is the gathering place of gorgeous tail feathers of China roosters. It borders Mongolia in the east, Kazakhstan and Russia in the northwest, and the border line is1205km long. Altay is inhabited by 36 ethnic groups including Kazak, Han, Hui, Uygur and Mongolian.
