Qinghe area was once a part of Changping before liberation, and its name may be related to Guo Shoujing, a scientist in Yuan Dynasty. Guo Shoujing and Jin Zhengda were born in Xingtai County, Hebei Province in the eighth year (A.D. 123 1 year). The first suggestion is to repair the waterway from Zhongdu (now Beijing) to Tongzhou (now Tongxian).

At that time, there were frequent floods on both sides of the Qinghe River, and the people were miserable, and the people suffered from floods. After Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan adopted Guo Shoujing's advice, he dredged the river and turned the flood into water conservancy. In order to express homesickness, Guo Shoujing named this river after Qinghe County in Xingtai, his hometown.
