What sports venues are there at Northwestern Polytechnical University?

The Physical Education Department of Northwestern Polytechnical University originated from the physical education group of the National Northwestern Polytechnical Institute in 1938. The Physical Education and Research Section of Northwestern Polytechnical University was established in 1957 and renamed the Physical Education Department in 1990. It is an independent teaching and academic support unit of the school.

The Sports Department adheres to our school's motto of "Integrity and Courage" and the school spirit of "Three Realities and One Newness", and adheres to the principle of "taking students as the root, educating people as the foundation, scholars as the key, academics as the soul, With the school philosophy of "responsibility first", it is mainly responsible for the teaching tasks of required physical education courses and elective courses for all undergraduates in the school. It is also responsible for mass sports activities, sports competitions, physical fitness tests, training and management of high-level sports teams, and physical education. Scientific research and discipline construction, sports venue management and services, etc.

Strong teaching staff

The Physical Education Department currently has 80 faculty members, including 52 professional staff and 28 school-employed non-professional staff; 58 full-time teachers, including professors 3 people, including 31 associate professors, 16 lecturers, 8 teaching assistants, 4 assistant professors, and 5 master's degree supervisors. Wang Libin is the former main center of the national men's basketball team and the flag bearer of the Chinese team in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He is currently the head coach of the school's men's basketball team. The Sports Department has 2 international-level referees and 16 national-level referees, among whom Wang Cheng and Dong Lin participated in the refereeing work at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Rich physical education courses

The school has opened 97 sports teaching courses, including traditional Chinese sports such as martial arts and dragon dance. In 2012, it was the first university in the northwest region to offer rugby. Courses, badminton courses were rated as quality courses in Shaanxi Province. Starting from 2019, we will promote the reform of undergraduate physical education teaching and establish an integrated teaching, training, and competition system (teaching, diligent training, and regular competitions) covering the entire undergraduate physical education class, both inside and outside the classroom.
