Japan has hosted several Asian Games

Japan has hosted the Asian Games twice, namely the 3rd and 12th Asian Games.

1. The Third Asian Games (1958)

The Third Asian Games was held in Tokyo, Japan from May 24 to June 1, 1958. ***1,820 athletes from 13 Asian countries and regions participated in the competition, and ***there were 13 events. This is the first time that Asian athletes have competed in such a large-scale comprehensive sports event. The Tokyo Asian Games provides a platform for exchanges and learning for athletes from Asian countries and regions, and has made important contributions to the development of Japan's sports industry.

2. The 12th Asian Games (1994)

The 12th Asian Games were held in Hiroshima, Japan from October 2 to 16, 1994. The conference was titled " With the slogan "Integration of Asians", a total of 6,824 athletes from 42 countries and regions competed for medals in 34 events. The 12th Asian Games is the first Asian Games to be held in a city outside the capital.

Introduction to the commemorative medal of the 3rd Asian Games:

The commemorative medal of the 3rd Asian Games is made of square copper. On the front is a relief statue of an Asian young man and the Asian Games torch, with "ASIANGAMES" (Asian Athletics) under the relief, and on the back is the Asian Games emblem and "1958·Tokyo, Japan". The signature of the relief is FUMIO (translated into Chinese: Asakura Fumio). Asakura Fumio (FUMIO, 1883-1964) is a famous sculptor of modern Japanese realistic figures.

The works created by Asakura Fumio are all in a hard-working, loyal and rigid style, and endow the human body with a healthy charm. The techniques are refined and the expressions are very graceful and luxurious, giving full play to the tension and beauty of the sculptures. Every part gives people a strong sense of realism and a sense of confidence. In the third Asian Games, Asakura Fumio served as the Minister of the Art Committee of the Games.
