What is life like in prison?

1. Admission education stage

After prisoners arrive at the detention center, they first go to the education supervision area for study and reform. The prison will distribute uniform prison clothes, tableware, toiletries, etc. to prisoners, and generally arrange simple physical examination. Newly-admitted prisoners will generally be arranged to live in a transitional cell. The so-called transitional cell is to allow prisoners to have an adaptation period to the prison, which is generally relatively strict. After the accommodation is arranged, it will officially enter the reform and study stage of prison education.

2. The stage of reeducation through labor

After the education stage, the prisoners will be transferred to the labor prison area for reeducation through labor, commonly known as "leaving the team". Generally speaking, long-term prisoners will be arranged in a prison area, and short-term prisoners will be arranged in a prison area, so as to avoid psychological pressure among prisoners because of different prison terms.

In addition, different prison terms and jobs are different. Generally, people with long sentences will be engaged in garment processing, because this will enable prisoners to master a practical skill and help prisoners make a living and find employment after they are released from prison. Short-term prisoners generally engage in simple manual work, such as luggage and electronic products.

3. The education stage of leaving prison

One month before the prisoner is released from prison, he will go back to the education prison area for education, in fact, that is, to recuperate and get ready to go home. The management at this stage is relatively loose, and the basic schedule is similar to that at the education stage of entering prison. Generally, hair can be stored one to two months before release. Some prisons have no out-of-prison education and are released directly after serving their sentences in the reform-through-labor prison area.
