2012 State Development Document No. 2

The General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Further Strengthening Energy Conservation Work" (Guofa [2012] No. 2). The document pointed out the importance and urgency of strengthening energy conservation work and proposed a series of specific measures. Including:

1. Promote unified national energy-saving labels and energy efficiency standards to promote the popularization of energy-saving products.

2. Strengthen the research and application of energy-saving technologies in industry, construction and transportation.

3. Strengthen energy-saving management of public institutions, residential buildings and commercial buildings to improve energy utilization efficiency.

4. Increase support and investment in new energy, clean energy, and renewable energy, and promote energy structure adjustment and green development.

5. Strengthen energy-saving publicity and education, and improve the energy-saving awareness and energy management level of the whole society.

The release of this document indicates that the Chinese government attaches great importance to and takes positive actions on energy conservation and environmental protection issues, and also points out the direction and path for China's energy conservation and emission reduction work.
