One view is that, according to historical records, as early as the Sun Wu period, there was a temple called "Qi Xuan Temple" where Jiming Temple was located, which was named after the Qi Xuan pond in the north of Jilong Mountain. Liu Hong, the seventh prince and Wang Jianping of Liu Yilong, Song Wendi in the Southern Dynasties, was modest and prudent, won his father's trust and gave him a mansion in northern Hebei.

In the second year of Song Daming (458), before his death, Liu Hong ordered the mansion in the northeast of Jilong Mountain to be donated as a temple, with the same name as Qiyuan Temple, which is synonymous with Yuan and Xuan, and renamed it Jianyuan Temple in the Southern Qi Dynasty. During the period of Sun Wu, a north-south tidal ditch was developed, which was connected with the North Canal and Du Yun in the south, passed in front of Qi Xuan Temple and led to Xuanwu Lake in the north. Later, when the city was built in the Ming Dynasty, the tidal ditch was blocked, but the southern end of the ditch remained until the early 1980s, and there were still several old Sophora japonica trees beside the ditch.
