History of Yuhuang Temple in Luoyang

The Jade Emperor Temple in Jingshan, Luoyang covers an area of more than ten acres, including the mountain gate, Yunlu, Jade Emperor Pavilion, Golden Buddha Hall, Guanyin Hall, Great Compassion Hall, Wuji Hall, Pangu Hall, Sanhuang Hall, Dizang Hall, God of Wealth Temple, Loyalty Hall, Sanqing Palace and Ancestor Hall. The building is magnificent, simple and vigorous, unique in style, chic and generous, with strong national and local characteristics. 1July, 1992, it was approved as "Jingshan Style Museum" by Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, and became the first museum spontaneously founded by farmers in Henan Province.

Most of the buildings in the Jade Emperor Temple are modern antique buildings, and only two ancient buildings, Jade Emperor Pavilion and Guanyin Hall, have survived to this day. Jade Emperor Pavilion, facing south, is a two-story building with a width of 8 meters, a depth of 7 meters and a height of 6.5 meters. The lintel of the gate is carved into the shape of a hanging flower gate, decorated with a three-liter archway, flowers and Kirin. Above the lintel is the "Jade Emperor" stone tablet in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The interior of Huang Yu Pavilion is arched, and the outer wall of the pavilion is reinforced with bluestone strips. There are a pair of stone lions in front of the pavilion. Kannonji is located on the west side of Huangyuting, facing south. It consists of two parts, the shed-style sacrifice hall in front and the main hall in the back. It is three rooms wide, with a tube and a tile on the top, and the memorial hall is painted with beams and purlins. Four stone carvings are embedded in the east and west walls, and animals and immortals are carved on the vertical ridge of the memorial hall.

In view of the unique geographical location of Jingshan Jade Emperor Temple and the historical and artistic value of the ancient building itself, it was approved as "Jingshan Style Museum" by Henan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau on July 20 12, 1992, making it the first museum spontaneously founded by farmers in Henan Province. June 5438+October 2008 10, the cultural relics team of yanshi city Cultural Relics and Tourism Bureau discovered the Jade Emperor Temple in Jingshan in the third national cultural relics survey, and reported it as a newly discovered cultural relic. A strange thing is that it is a Taoist place, but it has always been presided over by monks. It is said that there used to be a Admiralty Temple in the west of the temple. There are some evil monks in the temple, who kill people and steal goods on the ancient road in Luo Song, doing many evils and endangering one side. After that, they were cleared by the government and the temple was burned down. A few people who abide by the rules and regulations of Buddhism did not return, so they entered the Jade Emperor Temple, which has been handed down from generation to generation for a long time, and actually interpreted the interesting story of monks managing the temple.

Second, the architectural style is peculiar. Its layout is asymmetrical, with different densities, smooth and natural except the Shanmen/Yunlu/Huangyuting/Golden Buddha Hall/Wuji Hall on the central axis. But scattered but not chaotic, they are all built around the Jade Emperor Pavilion, showing the trend of the stars arching the moon, reflecting the traditional saying of the Jade Emperor's patience, strength and generosity.

Sanqi is a strange place, as long as you can see it in Jingshan. In Xuanyuanguan, it is like an elegant manor, ethereal in the sea of clouds; On the banks of the Ilo River, it stands like an ancient castle on the top of a cliff. It is said that in ancient times, when the weather was fine, you could see its fragrant shadow in Dongguan, the old city of Luoyang.

The four eccentrics are three religions and one structural eccentric. Although it is called Jade Emperor Temple, there is a small temple in the big temple and a temple in the temple. There are Jade Emperor Pavilion, Sanqing Palace, Buddhist Temple, Guanyin Bodhisattva Hall, and Dizang Bodhisattva Hall, as well as Guandi Temple and Baiyunling Classroom (founded by the famous gentry Li in Guangxu period), which integrate Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, complement each other and are filled with incense.

The five wonders are temple fairs. Every year, there is a grand temple fair called "Fuhui", that is, on the night before Fuhui every year, people gathered around Fiona Fang inside and outside the temple fair, which is unprecedented. Many good men and women spontaneously came from all directions to pray and burn incense and perform folk art programs, much like a spontaneous large-scale mass cool party. Look at the picture below.
