The Criminal Law stipulates that those who constitute the crime of stealing state secret information shall be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years but not more than ten years; those who seriously endanger national security or cause heavy losses to national interests and other particularly serious circumstances shall be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years but not more than ten years. Fixed-term imprisonment or life imprisonment; if the harm to the country and the people is particularly serious or the circumstances are particularly egregious, the maximum penalty may be death.
