Eight years ago, Mayday was booed. What happened?

Mayday originated on campus, and A Xin, Monster, Martha and Stone, as students of the High School Attached to National Taiwan University, formed a fixed lineup with the participation of drummer Guan You, which continues to this day. Mayday defined herself as a rock band from the beginning of her debut, cheering for rock and roll in many award ceremonies and concerts.

However, with the evolution of the music environment, the label of "rock" has been abused, and the music industry has also set off a wave of criticizing "pseudo-rock", and Mayday has fallen into a huge controversy. The focus of controversy is whether Mayday is a rock band or not. This controversy has never stopped with every performance on May Day.

In 2005, a rock performance was held in the famous Unknown Highland Bar in Beijing. I volunteered for May Day and paid for my travel and accommodation. The performance of Mayday triggered a very different feedback. Fans shouted with flower slogans, while rock fans shouted "get out".

Mayday is not accepted by rock fans because their music style is completely different from the madness and agitation of rock music in the traditional sense. More importantly, Mayday's lyrics lack the rebellious spirit regarded as the soul by rock fans, but present the "positive energy" of youth and inspiration.
