The Liuzi Temple is located in Lingling District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, China, on the west bank of Xiaoshui River. It is a temple built to commemorate Liu Zongyuan in the Tang Dynasty. It was established in 2001 It is listed as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Liu Zongyuan was demoted to Yongzhou Sima in the fifth year of Zhenyuan (805) and lived here for ten years. In order to commemorate him, later generations built Liuzi Temple on the east side of Huayan Yanxue Palace in the third year of Zhihe in the Northern Song Dynasty (1056). In the 14th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1144), it was rebuilt on the north side of where Yuxi River merged into Xiaoshui River, called " "Liu Zihou Ancestral Hall" or "Liu Sima Ancestral Hall" was rebuilt in the third year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1877) and renamed Liuzi Temple.
The existing building has three entrances, with a construction area of ??1,534 square meters. There are a stage, a front hall, a back hall and other buildings in the courtyard. Although Yongzhou has beautiful scenery, it is probably unknown to people in the boudoir, but Liu Zongyuan wrote in Yongzhou He wrote so many Chinese poems about Yongzhou, which contributed to the spread of Yongzhou’s reputation. Liuzi Temple is located on Liuzi Street to the west of Xiaoshui in Yongzhou. It was built in the third year of Zhihe (1056) by Renzong of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the 14th year of the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1144) and the third year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1877). Liuzi Temple covers an area of ??more than 2,000 square meters, with a brick and wood structure, facing Yuxi River and backed by green mountains. There is a stone carving with the words "Liuzimiao" on the door of the temple, with couplets on both sides.
When you enter the gate, you can see that the temple has three entrances and three openings. First, there is a stage with double eaves and eight pillars. Then proceed to the second central hall, and then to the third entrance, which is the main hall. There is a statue of Liu Zongyuan in the hall for people to worship.
