It can be seen that static electricity is ubiquitous in our daily life, and there is a high electrostatic voltage around us, thousands or even tens of thousands of volts. These static electricity may have little effect on human body, but for some ESDS (electrostatic sensitive elements), it can directly make them lose their normal performance or even completely lose their normal function.

so ESD protection is very necessary. Combined with the concept of ESD and some experience accumulated in my work, I will talk about ESD protection from five aspects: man, machine, law, material and environment.

talking about people. The human body can be said to be a high static power source, and the protection of human static electricity relies on shielding and releasing static electricity.

Strictly speaking, it is required to be "fully armed", that is, to wear anti-static hats, anti-static masks, anti-static gloves, finger covers, etc., anti-static clothes, anti-static shoes, and wrist straps to shield and guide away static electricity. In short, try not to expose people's skin.

second talk about machines. The machine is also a high static power supply, because the mechanical parts of the machine, especially the motor, are easy to produce EMI (electromagnetic induction), so it is also very necessary to protect the static electricity of the machine.

generally, the protection of machine static electricity is realized by eliminating electromagnetic fields, shielding high static parts and grounding the machine. Generally, degaussing is borrowed from degausser, and ion fan is used to eliminate charge.

the degausser is very simple, so I won't introduce it. Let's take a look at the ion fan. The ion blower can generate abundant positive ions and negative ions, and blow these ions to the high electrostatic objects, then the static electricity of the objects will be neutralized.

these ions are generated by ionizing air by ion generating elements inside the ion fan. The ion generating element is excited by a transformer with low current and high voltage to ionize air.

The transformer also contains a current limiting resistor, which can enhance the stability and safety of ionization. The high-voltage alternating current acting on the circular circuit of stainless steel ion emission point makes a strong alternating electric field form at the top of the emission point, which ionizes the air and produces pole-changing ions.

when the electromagnetic field cannot be eliminated or is difficult to eliminate, we use electrostatic shielding equipment to shield the high-static equipment or the high-static parts of the equipment, such as the motor. As we all know, the motor is easy to generate EMI, but the machine can't operate without the motor, so it is necessary to shield it. There are also workstations, power cords, computer keyboards, etc., which can be protected by electrostatic shielding. The shielding products available in this respect include anti-static desk mats, anti-static films, anti-static curtains, anti-static shielding bags, and anti-static tapes.

finally, regardless of the shielding or degaussing effect of the machine, it is necessary to connect the ESD ground wire to the machine. Third, talk about materials, that is, materials.

in a very absolute way, if your product is sensitive to static electricity, then there should be no high-static materials on your production line, especially in the area near the product. Try to use anti-static materials as much as possible, such as component boxes, shelves, workstations, transportation equipment, cleaning equipment, chemical reagents, etc. Finally, even the pens and notebooks you use should use anti-static pens and notebooks, because when you use pens, Of course, if your product is not very sensitive to static electricity, you can handle it as appropriate, but it is best to prove it with the help of ESD experiment to see if it is really safe.

the four talking rings, that is, the environment of the work area. A good anti-static working environment is very important for production. Such an environment is generally established as follows: First, establish an ESD safe operation area, that is, EPA(ESD Protection Area), and it is best to stick ESD protection warning signs at the corresponding positions.

Secondly, it is the placement of ESD safe operation area. We will talk about it from three aspects: anti-static floor system, dust removal system, grounding system and air temperature and humidity. Anti-static floor system, the most important thing is to lay anti-static floor on the ordinary floor. Generally, there are anti-static PVC floor and anti-static epoxy floor. For anti-static floor, the requirements must meet the standards of the International Anti-static Association. Of course, the anti-static floor must also be connected with ESD ground wire.

a dust-free working environment is very important, because the dust in the air will collide with each other during the movement, and ESD will also occur. If the dust is not removed, it will be difficult to find out the causes of ESD problems. Generally, we use the dust removal system to solve this problem.

firstly, it is required to have an air dust filtration system, such as air shower room, air shower channel, cargo shower room, dust pad, dust roller, air filter, dust-free transfer window, and air shower transfer window of dust-free room. Secondly, as far as possible, clean lamps and lanterns, clean glass in clean room, ceiling with colored steel plate in clean room, corner wrapped with colored steel plate in clean room and column wrapped with colored steel plate in clean room shall be set up.

the selection of the above equipment depends on the sensitivity of products to ESD, and it is best to learn from the opinions of professionals. A perfect working environment for ESD protection and the establishment of an independent and perfect ESD grounding system are also very important.

In addition, a perfect ESD working environment has certain requirements for temperature and humidity. From the point of view of ESD protection, the higher the humidity, the better. However, if the humidity is too high, it will corrode the equipment, so generally speaking, the humidity of 4%-6% is the most ideal.

of course, each enterprise should also decide according to the characteristics of its own products. After all, this work is complicated. In addition, ceilings and wall air outlets should be set up, and dust collectors should be used to clean the clean room frequently.

By controlling the temperature and humidity of the air, the static electricity in the environment is also dissipated through the floor system and introduced into the earth.

How to remove the traces of anti-static tape?
