Athena is the Greek goddess of reason, wisdom, art and literature. She is the daughter of Zeus; Her birth is unique because she has no mother. Instead, she grew from Zeus' forehead and wore armor.

She is fearless in the battle; However, she only participated in the war to defend the country and home from foreign enemies. She is the protector of cities, handicrafts and agriculture. She invented the bridle, which enabled humans to tame horses, trumpets, flutes, pots, harrows, plows, yokes, boats and chariots. She is the embodiment of wisdom, reason and purity. She is Zeus' favorite child and can use his weapons, including lightning. Her holy tree is an olive tree, and she is often symbolized as an owl.

By offering an olive tree to the Athenians, she won the competition with Poseidon and became the patron saint of Athens. Obviously, Athena and Athens come from the same root; Athens (or Athenae) is plural because it represents the sisterhood of the goddess there. Similarly, Athena was called Mikan in Mycenae (also the plural form of their sister relationship) and Thebes in Thebes (or Thebes, both plural forms).
