What container is used to brew Lafite Basque red wine?

Lafite Basque red wine is brewed in traditional large oak barrels.

After the fermentation, the wine used will be transferred to new oak barrels for aging. In order to ensure the quality, all the oak barrels come from Lafite's own barrel factory. During the aging process, the winemaker will taste the wine in each oak barrel and eliminate the unqualified wine. In March of the following year, the winery will decant the wine for the first time (separate the wine from the sediment) and then mix it.

Lafite is a typical Bordeaux mixed wine, and the wines brewed by different grape varieties are blended according to a certain proportion. After that, it will be aged 18-24 months to allow the wine to continue to mature. Four kinds of grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmine, Shiraz and malbec, were used in the brewing of wines collected in Lafite Basque Garden. The combination of these high-quality grapes endows the wines collected in Lafite Basque Garden with the characteristics of soft taste, full body and rich fruit aroma.

Specific process

Before bottling, the winemaker will add egg whites to the wine to allow the particles to precipitate to stabilize the wine. After that, the professional equipment of Lafite Winery will bottle the red wine. The annual output of Lafite Winery is about 40,000 cases, and one third of the cocktail parties can only be sold under the trademark of Little Lafite because the quality is not up to expectations. Only after passing the screening of brewing, the high-quality part will be labeled as Chteau Lafite Rothschild.

In order to ensure the authenticity of wine, since February 20 12, all bottle caps of Lafite Castle and Little Lafite have been affixed with authentication seals. Seal seal is composed of a group of "bubble codes", which is unique and cannot be copied. Each set of bubble codes is associated with a set of alphanumeric codes.
