I have been here for a while, and I can tell you some of my actual feelings.

First, let’s talk about the living conditions. The living conditions here in Xiamen are not very good. The house I live in now costs 1,500 yuan and does not have a kitchen. You can imagine the standard of the houses here. You can measure how expensive a house you can afford to rent, let alone a house worth a few hundred yuan. In other words, if you want to cook, you can only do it in the bedroom, just make some noodles. There is no heating in winter and it is very cold and humid. Unless you rent a house with heating and air conditioning or buy an electric heater yourself, the clothes you wear will be damp.

Second point, let me talk about the climate. It was July when I came, and it was around 35 to 40 degrees almost every day. Most of the weather forecast said it was cloudy, but when you go out, it will be a bit cloudy. There was no shade, not a cloud, and the sun was so scorching that my face was almost cooked. In winter, the weather forecast is mostly cloudy, but on the contrary, it is cloudy at all. As you can imagine, in Xiamen’s winter, sunshine is a luxury. Although it is very cold outside in winter in the north, it is always warm indoors. Here, you feel cold and damp all the time. It is common for it to rain seven days a week.

The third point I want to talk about is food. The food here really makes me speechless. I really miss the food in the north. There is so little delicious food here, and there is so little food for the public to enjoy. Moreover, prices are much higher than in the north. Every time I call home and compare prices, my heart bleeds. What makes me most intolerable is that there are few varieties of fruits here and they are expensive. They don’t even have the most popular watermelons from the north. The watermelons here are simply unpalatable. Not to mention apples, lemons, bananas and the like. Apart from being expensive, it just doesn't taste good. well. . . . . .

The fourth point, what I want to say is that the sanitary environment in Xiamen is too poor. Take the most common means of transportation, buses. The dirty ones are fine. Don't sit too far back when taking a bus, because that's where cockroaches gather. They're so densely packed that they'll make you sick. When I first came to Xiamen and took the bus, I thought there were patterns on the windows. Later I found out that it was the result of not wiping the glass over time. Rain marks, dust, etc., were all circled. (Of course, not all bus routes are like this, but this is not an isolated phenomenon).

When walking on the streets of Xiamen, you must not just look up to enjoy the scenery. You must also look down at the road. For no other reason than to avoid stepping on those damn things that are too numerous to mention. Dog poop (there are so many wild dogs in Xiamen, you can see traces of them whether in the city center or in the surrounding areas) It’s hard to imagine that this is a tourist city.

However, just when I was amazed by everything in Xiamen, I went to Fuzhou. Haha, after going to Fuzhou and returning to Xiamen, you will have a different feeling. All the confusion and complaints are gone. Because compared with Fuzhou, Xiamen is a paradise.

Finally, what I want to say is that if you come to Xiamen for fun, it doesn’t matter. You can come and play. Still good. If you are looking for a job as a white-collar worker, I don't agree with it, because there are very few job opportunities here. If you think about it, you can imagine that there are not even recruitment newspapers. If it is in the service industry, the wages here are not high, and there are very few large-scale companies. In this case, you will not have much room for promotion, and you can only work part-time without much development.

Unless you come here to do business and do some small business, it’s not bad. After all, this is a tourist city and the money is easy to make. If you have a big capital, you only need to have an investment vision; if you have a small capital, you need to be able to endure hardship and start from a small business.
