Now is far from the most traffic jam, because the second and third days of the New Year's Day are the peak traffic jams when relatives are concentrated.

In recent years, the author has experienced traffic jams when visiting relatives during the Spring Festival. A only road, the traffic jam began the next morning, and it took more than an hour to walk for one or two kilometers.

It was even more congested when I came back in the afternoon, and it didn't pass for more than an hour.

This traffic jam "grand occasion" was constantly staged on many rural roads during Spring Festival travel rush.

As we all know, rural roads are highly valued. Every year, all localities will vigorously promote the construction of "every village" in rural areas and help villages build hardened roads. Many village roads have just been repaired in recent years.

So, why did the newly built road start to get stuck in traffic? Is there something fishy about this road?

In fact, traffic jams on newly-built roads are not as difficult as people think, which are caused by many reasons.

First of all, in the past, rural roads were of low grade and narrow width.

Highways have technical grades, and the widths of highways at all levels are clearly defined.

Among them, rural roads generally belong to Grade IV and Grade IV highways, and the minimum width of one lane is 3.5 meters.

Road construction in rural areas, limited by funds, land occupation and other issues, is generally carried out in accordance with the minimum standards, so many villages' roads are 3.5 meters wide, which is not tricky and conforms to the regulations at that time.

But the problem is that in the past, 3.5 meters wide rural roads were enough, but now it seems to be relatively backward. Now this grade standard is in urgent need of improvement.

Secondly, there are more and more cars in rural areas.

In the past, there were few cars in rural areas, and a village might have only a few cars, so even if the rural roads were narrow, there were few traffic jams.

But it's different now. Cars are getting cheaper and cheaper, migrant workers earn more and more money, and many people have the ability to buy cars.

In my hometown, there is basically one car for every three households.

During the Spring Festival, young people go home for the Spring Festival, and the cars in the village are all moving, which makes the road width of 3.5 meters not enough.

Not to mention the traffic jam caused by concentrating on relatives, even if two cars meet at ordinary times, the road is 3.5 meters wide, and it is difficult to get on the wrong bus.

In my hometown, there are wheat fields on both sides of the road, and the road surface is more than ten centimeters higher than the wheat fields. When the wheel falls, it will hit the chassis. Is it the wrong lane? When two cars meet, it is easy to cause traffic jams.

Therefore, traffic jams often occur in rural Spring Festival travel rush, not because the road construction is tricky, but because the previous technical standards have fallen behind and cannot meet the travel needs of rural people now.

The good news is that rural roads are being upgraded all over the country, and one of the key points is to widen the pavement width.

In some places, rural roads are required to be at least 4 meters wide, and in some places, two-lane and 6-meter-wide roads are built in rural areas where conditions permit.
