What unforgettable domestic travel experiences have you had?

On my first trip in 2023, I went to Guangxi & Yunnan.

The route is: Nanning - Beihai - Weizhou Island - Qinzhou - Dongxing - Detian Waterfall - Baise - Puzhehei - Mengzi - Jianshui - Hani Rice Terraces - Xishuangbanna - Lancang - Kunming

I walked almost all the way to the border cities and experienced a southwest border tour!

Let’s talk about Guangxi first

1. Nanning

Nanning is the destination of this trip starting point.

In Nanning, I ate authentic Laoyou noodles and visited the Qingxiu Mountain in the super park. What impressed me the most was the various night markets and snacks in Nanning. I lingered in front of the fried insect stalls at the night market for a long time, but in the end I didn’t have the courage to try one.

2. Weizhou Island

It rained continuously for several days when we went to Weizhou Island, which made the seaside scenery lose its color, and also made our plan to go out to sea to watch Bryde's whales fall through. Empty. However, even if the weather is bad, the color of the sea water is still clear blue. Therefore, the sunny Weizhou Island should be a very suitable place for leisure vacation. (Be sure to check the weather forecast before going to the island, the weather is really important 55555)

In addition, from the end of December to mid-February every year, there will be Bryde's whales in the waters of Weizhou Island, so go during this season You can participate in whale watching activities on Weizhou Island. Of course, whether you can see it or not depends on your luck.

3. Dongxing

Dongxing is a small border town, across the river from the cities in Vietnam.

This is the closest I have ever been to a national border. The closest place is only 50 meters away from Vietnam. From the observation deck upstairs at Dongxing Port, you can also overlook the Vietnamese city opposite.

Beside Dongxing Port, there are many small shops selling Vietnamese specialties, including coffee, cashew nuts, slippers, etc., with a dazzling array of products. You can grab some snacks here, or you can go to Saigon Coffee and order a cup of Vietnamese dripping and chat all afternoon. It is recommended to try the Vietnamese bread, it is super delicious.

There are also many boundary monuments in Dongxing, which outline the visible and tangible borders of the motherland from the Qing Dynasty to the present.

4. Detian Waterfall

Detian Waterfall has always been a place I have always wanted to see. This time I finally got my wish.

Although winter is not a wet season, the waterfall is still full of water and is worthy of being the fourth largest transnational waterfall in the world.

Compared to Dongxing, Detian Waterfall is closer to Vietnam. During the boat trip, you can even hear the conversations of Vietnamese tourists on the other side.

I heard from the locals that the boat used to be able to row to Vietnam on the other side to have a look.
