Two years ago, the school launched the study of "Disciple Rules", and each student had a copy. I was fortunate enough to come across the book "Disciples' Regulations". This book was originally called "Xun Mengwen" and was written by Li Yuxiu, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. Its literary meaning is composed of three characters, two sentences and one rhyme. The content is easy to understand and the philosophy clearly teaches people basic moral cultivation, filial piety and friendship, and the etiquette they should have in life. It is the best reading book for teachers to educate students on morality.

In the early days of teaching "Disciples' Regulations", in the Bible reading class, I led one sentence and the students read another sentence. (Because I teach "Disciple Rules" to the first grade) students are required to attend "with both mind, eye and mouth". At first, the children were very curious about ancient Chinese and could follow it carefully in class. Since primary school students are in their best memory period, soon everyone will be able to memorize and recognize many Chinese characters.

But more than two months later, this kind of "cramming" teaching faced new problems: when the "freshness" wore off, some children were like little monks chanting sutras, following the words carelessly and unintentionally. Reading, I was obviously bored, and I was very troubled and disappointed. How can I let them learn "Disciple Rules" independently?

Soon, I changed my teaching methods based on the age and psychological characteristics of the children. In the Bible reading class, the "happy teaching method" is adopted. That is to say, let students read individually, in groups, read separately for men and women, and read by train... Children have a strong desire for expression and often rush to express themselves. I also continue to encourage them in various ways. At the same time, when explaining the "Disciple Rules", I told many stories of Chinese virtues based on the content to inspire them, such as "Kong Rong gave up the pear", "Meng's mother moved three times", "Agarwood saved the mother", "Iron rod ground into a needle", etc., etc. The twists and turns of the story help children understand many principles of life. This entertaining and educational approach has gradually made children more interested in reading the Bible. Everyone knows the "Disciple Rules" by heart.

On the surface, the "Disciple Rules" education I conducted seems to have achieved twice the result with half the effort. However, children still go their own way in terms of behavior and habits, and their inner temperament has not changed much. After reading "Eternal Essays", it seems far away from being a "young gentleman", let alone being a "little saint" in the company of "sages and sages".

Whenever I have time, I will recite the "Disciple Rules" over and over again to understand the meaning of the sentences, and discuss teaching methods with experienced teachers. The classic words in it, "If you don't practice hard, you can learn literature. If you grow flashy, who will you become?" These classic words gave me great inspiration. yes! "Disciple Rules" The children have finished studying. The key is that it cannot be implemented into actual life and study. If students cannot do it, what is the use of memorizing the "Disciple Rules"?

Then I immediately adjusted my teaching ideas, put "practice and lead by example" in daily study and life, and carried out ideological and moral education for students. First of all, you must first ask yourself to "practice it personally" so that you can be convincing. In the past, my lecture platform was very messy, and I said, "When you see others being evil, you should introspect, and if you see them, you should correct them without warning." Now I have to "see yourself being evil, and you should introspect." I used to like to lean on the desk when I was tired in class, but now I always remember to "walk calmly and stand upright". I used to scold students loudly when I criticized them, but now I change it to "please my appearance and soften my voice"...

Under the influence of my words and deeds, students are slowly changing. For example, when teaching the chapter "Be filial when you enter", guide students to consciously fulfill their filial piety, and tell them that they do not need to wait until they grow up to be filial to their elders. They can repay their parents' nurturing kindness in various ways now. For example, at home, serving tea and water to tired parents, beating their backs, serving rice, putting away dishes, cleaning, and taking care of their younger siblings... In Bible reading classes, I asked the children to raise their hands to speak about the gains brought about by "practicing" and happy, everyone was excited. Some said that their parents laughed when they put away the dishes, some said that when guests came to the house and bowed to say hello, the guests bent over with laughter, some said that my aunt said that I loved working, and some said that I was "evil" Don't ask about "unknown things"... On the other hand, the happy faces of parents also prove that "practical practice" is worthy of promotion and in-depth development.

A year later, when the teaching ideas gradually became clearer, I lost no opportunity to apply the content of "Disciples' Regulations" to the teaching language. When a student makes repeated mistakes, I will tell him, "If one's virtue is damaged, it will lead to shame. Mistakes can be corrected, but they will be lost. If they are covered up, they will be punished."

When an individual student accidentally speaks dirty words, I advise him to "stop using cunning words, dirty words, and public spirit." If students do not listen to their parents' teachings at home, I want them to "listen to what their parents teach, and parents are responsible." "You must obey," students are required to "report anything they report, and face any negative comments" when they go out. For some poor students, I would hold her little hand and say: "If the clothes and food are not as good as others, don't worry about it." For children who only like to listen to other people's praises and get angry when others talk about their shortcomings, I would say : "I'm angry when I hear it, I'm happy when I hear praise. Harmful friends come, but good friends come away." When some children do not do their homework neatly, I mark "disrespect in learning, heart disease first"...
