How to design a simple septic tank in rural backyard?

The traditional dry toilets in rural areas are not only dirty, but also smelly. This traditional toilet obviously does not conform to the living environment in rural areas now. Now many villages have beautiful self-built houses. If we are still building traditional dry toilets, we will feel humiliated, regardless of whether other people in the village will laugh or not.

Then, how can we build a simple septic tank with the least money behind our own small courtyard in rural areas, so that the toilets at home can be as odorless and hygienic as those in urban communities?

According to my years of observation and my own life experience, I think different places can be different. The construction cost of the following two kinds of septic tanks can be controlled between 1000~2000.

The first simple three-compartment septic tank was built by my father-in-law in 20 17. This septic tank is a free gift from the local village for toilet improvement.

Of course, some villages may not have such good benefits and need to buy them themselves or give them to farmers free of charge in the village. The principle of this septic tank is based on the previous three-format septic tank design.

Compared with the traditional three-format septic tank made of cement bricks, this septic tank has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The disadvantage is that this three-format septic tank has a small capacity, no sewer leading to the village, and it is easy to be filled with feces. Take a normal family of four in rural areas as an example, it takes about 2 times a year to dig out feces. As for dung, you can dig it yourself or ask someone to dig it.

The advantage is that this septic tank is cheap, and there is no need to ask people to dig deep pits and build bricks. And labor and material costs can save a lot of money.

Construction method: First, build a squat toilet in your home and backyard, and connect a sewage pipe at the bottom of the toilet. The length of the water pipe depends on the condition of your own bathroom.

Then dig a pit in the open space outside the toilet, connect the ready-made three-format septic tank with the drainage sewage of the toilet, and finally bury the three-format septic tank in the soil.

Is it super simple?

Of course, wealthy farmers or local rural areas with sewers can also choose to build three-format cement septic tanks by hand.

You can dig further, with a depth of 2.5 meters and a width of about 1.5 meters. At the exit of septic tank in the last compartment, fecal water will be discharged into the sewer.

The second kind of simple septic tank I saw many friends complain on the Internet that the three-format septic tank is good, but it needs to be washed with water. There is no sewer in the local village, so the septic tank can be filled easily. Moreover, their water resources are not rich, the temperature is low in winter, and water is easy to freeze. Therefore, even the simple flushing three-room septic tank mentioned above is not practical in their local area.

In fact, this is not without a solution. We can build another rural toilet with separated feces and urine. This kind of toilet has many advantages, such as maximizing the value utilization of feces and urine; Feces and urine are collected by themselves, not discharged into local waters, and will not pollute groundwater and river water; Finally, it saves money and the construction cost is very low.

Construction method of rural toilet with separation of feces and urine: 1. First build a toilet, the difference is that the construction of this toilet is a bit similar to the traditional dry toilet. At the bottom of the toilet squatting position, build a rectangular cement hole about 60~80 cm, and there should be a side entrance and exit in this cement hole.

2. Buy separate toilets and men's urinals and install them on the floor of the bathroom.

3. Buy another one, which is longer than the whole toilet water pipe, and install this water pipe in the pit below the squatting position to play the role of air circulation. Note that a rain-proof and insect-proof hat should be installed at the top of this water pipe.

4. The lower end of the urinal of the excrement and urine separation squatting pan is connected with the lower part of the men's urinal through a drainage pipe, and then a bucket (the size of the bucket depends on the size of the reserved pit) is placed at the outlet to receive urine. Similarly, a container is also placed at the lower end of the feces opening of the feces-urine separation squatting pan for holding feces.

5. Finally, seal the cement hole reserved in front with a baffle to prevent mosquitoes from flying in and smelling.

It's built, so you don't have to worry about them every time you go to the bathroom. There is no need to flush when defecating, just prepare some grass fire ash, lime mixed with pastoral soil or pure pastoral soil in the toilet and cover the feces. Finally, cover the squatting pan for defecation separation to achieve the purpose of odorless and tasteless.

It has been used for a long time. When the urine bucket and manure bucket are almost full, open the sealing baffle and take these fertilizers to the vegetable field for fertilization.

Conclusion: The above two kinds of rural toilet septic tanks are used in most places, and most farmers have a high opinion of them because they can make odorless sanitary materials.
