Why didn't North Korea listen to China's persuasion and the friendly relations between China and North Korea ceased to exist?

In fact, the so-called "traditional friendship between China and North Korea" has long since faded, or even gone forever.

As early as 1956 (when Chinese people's Volunteer Army had not completely withdrawn from China), the "August sectarian incident" occurred in the Northern Dynasties (Kim Il Sung purged the pro-China faction (also known as Yan 'an faction) and pro-Soviet faction in the Northern Dynasties in order to monopolize power, and Mao Great Man was very angry about this). Since then, there has been a huge rift in China-DPRK relations. However, in order to maintain the integrity of the Eastern Group at that time and its own security needs, on the surface, China and North Korea still maintained a "good" state. China will give appropriate assistance to the North Korea when it encounters some difficulties.

In 1980s, China implemented reform and opening up, and its economy developed rapidly. However, the Northern Dynasties remained conservative and closed to the outside world. During this period, after more than 20 years of autocratic Kim regime, the Northern Dynasties began to drift away from China in some important foreign policies.

The time has come to 1994. With the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea as a symbol, China and North Korea have actually completely parted ways in values. In the words of western media, China (actually) has been trying to make the relationship between China and the DPRK return to the ordinary "state-to-state relationship" and downplay the ideological and military alliance attributes of the Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance between China and the DPRK. In response, North Korea (1March 993 12, North Korea) announced its withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons for the first time. Therefore, it can be said that this is also a peak period of "contradiction superficiality" in Sino-DPRK relations.

Later, regarding the North Korean nuclear issue, China always adhered to the principle of multi-party consultation to solve it (North Korea also realized the change of China's attitude and repeatedly blocked it by refusing to participate in the "six-party talks"). In addition, regarding the sanctions imposed on North Korea by the international community (mainly the United States), China stopped exporting nuclear-related materials to North Korea in 2009. On September 23rd, 20 13, China even directly published an embargo list specifically targeting North Korea (this list lists dozens of "dual-use" technologies and equipment: they are mainly used for civilian purposes, but they can also be used for military purposes. These include equipment, materials and parts needed to build nuclear reactors, and biological agents that can be used to produce chemical weapons.

All these are enough to show that, on the one hand, China-DPRK friendship does have a "(historical) tradition." But this "tradition" is not "unchanged" but "changed". On the other hand, China is increasingly concerned about its realistic national interests. Therefore, even if it (North Korea) is China's "traditional" ally, when it does something that is not in China's national interest, China must come up with corresponding strategies to deal with it.
