Unforgettable Sino-Russian border river
Author Hainan Le Xiaoyao
In the long years, I will never forget the Wusuli River, the border river between China and Russia, and I will never get enough of that song-Wusuli Boat Song.
The Wusuli River in my mind is about one kilometer wide, and it looks sparkling from a distance, unlike the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. Just like a quiet and gentle lady, she gently walked in the footsteps of lotus, crossed the Wanda Mountains and slowly walked across the vast plains. Like a kind mother, she has nurtured the forests, grasslands and fertile fields on both sides of the strait and raised thousands of Qian Qian people. She recorded a unique and interesting experience in my childhood. I told my colleagues and friends about the interesting things on that river countless times. She is a star that will never disappear in my memory.
Dad used to work in Xitong, a small town by the river, and occasionally took me to play in summer. I remember the Wusuli River in the 1960s and 1970s. The water is so clear. Against the background of blue sky and white clouds, the whole river is like a long blue ribbon, and the banks are full of green, only colorful wildflowers are dotted in it, and the scenery is beautiful. As soon as I got to the river, I couldn't wait to take off my shoes and run barefoot in shallow water. The water is crystal clear. I pick up Jiangbei from time to time, which is spindle-shaped, fan-shaped and oval ... with different shapes. Sometimes I catch small fish playing on my legs. The little fish is very clever and always slips away from me. The colorful pebbles at the bottom of the water are so beautiful! Some are like yellow amber, some are like red agate, some are like Cui Mo ... I picked up a bag of pebbles, dropped a drop in my pocket, and took it out at home to show off to the children next door. Pebbles out of water are dim. I am so disappointed. When I grew up, I realized that nature carries everything, and only when everything chooses to adapt to its own environment can it be full of vitality and bloom with the most splendid brilliance. Eagles fight in the sky, fish swim in the water, towering trees grow in Shan Ye, and ice flowers bloom under the snow and ice, so pebbles can only be colorful in the water.
The Wusuli River is not only picturesque, but also rich in products. According to my mother, in the early 1960s, there were turtles with large washbasins everywhere on the river beach, and the locals refused to eat them. The foreign "Rightists" ended their meat-free diet and supplemented it every day. There are so many fish in the branch of the river that they are fished out in a big net, weighing dozens of pounds. 10 is the time when salmon swim back to Wusuli River to lay eggs every year, and the separated salmon is hung in the yard of every household. In winter, when people dig an ice hole with steel in their hands, the fish will rush into the hole to absorb oxygen. You can catch the fish with a net bag. During the three-year period when there was no food due to natural disasters, every family got a boat full of fish, with more than 2,000 kilograms, as food to satisfy their hunger. Once my brother and I picked up mussels on the beach, and a cigarette was full of sacks, each bigger than a plate. There are dense hawthorn trees and sand fruit trees along the Rao section of Wusuli River. In autumn, my mother took me to Raohe for a meeting and left me safely by the river. I picked a big bag of hawthorn and sand fruit. My mother came to pick me up after the meeting and distributed the fruits I picked to my friends at the meeting. At that time, the wild hawthorn trees along the Wusuli River were very famous.
The most interesting thing is to take a boat from Xitong to Raohe River. The main channel is the border between China and the Soviet Union. In some places, the ship was only two or three meters away from the Soviet coast, so it jumped into Su Xiu (meaning to go to the Soviet Union). The passenger ship sailed for the Soviet side, and the melodious song "Dongfanghong" was played on the loudspeaker. Sometimes, Russian girls who work in the fields put down their work and dance, and China people on board also dance with the word "loyalty". What a friendly and harmonious scene. Although Sino-Russian relations deteriorated at that time, music itself had no national boundaries and no hatred.
In my memory, the Wusuli River froze for more than three feet in winter, and the whole river became a silvery white road and a transportation line. The traffic is busy, and the ice road is much flatter than the dirt road. At that time, both China and the Soviet Union built a wooden tower every twenty miles on their own side of the Wusuli River, about ten stories high, to monitor the border dynamics. The frozen deep water area of Wusuli River, that is, the ice surface of the main channel is low, forming a slightly inclined slope with the banks. The national border is the main passage at the bottom of the ice, which is marked by inserting trees about one meter high.
Some naughty children came to the river by sleigh. While the border guards were not paying attention, they climbed the sledge, slid down the river slope, broke through the boundary between the tree countries and rushed to the Soviet side. I saw that the soldiers on the Soviet watchtower immediately raised their guns, but before the Soviet soldiers caught up with the arresting people, the sledge quickly fell back to our side, so it was easy to return home. Then, the Soviet Union protested with loudspeakers that these children were inevitably confined to their parents. What a teenager! The more wit, the less courage.
In the late 1960 s, China and the Soviet Union made bad friends in Zhenbaodao section of Wusuli River. The Soviet Union thinks that when the country is strong, the soldiers will be strong. Tanks and patrol troops have repeatedly invaded our territory across the border, and war is imminent. There are many soldiers from two countries and border people from China on the border of Yushu. I often hear neighbors who have been to the border come back to tell stories about the war with Su Xiu.
Both Chinese and Soviet border guards passionately declared their sovereignty. I remember our border residents holding placards that read "Down with the new czar!" "Treasure Island is the territory of China!" "People don't make me, I'm not a prisoner; If people attack me, I will commit a crime. " Wait (in fact, these placards are also used for self-defense). The slogans of our border residents shouted loudly, and the Soviet soldiers were not to be outdone. I saw the officers shouting "China!" In Chinese. His soldiers held out their little fingers in unison.
Interestingly, some Soviet soldiers put their hands on the edge of their trouser pockets and gave a thumbs-up when they saw the chief executive was away, indicating that China was good. Seeing the first mate coming, he held his little finger high again. There are also Soviet soldiers who have crossed the border mischievously and brazenly took their legs back. It can be seen that these little soldiers are just ignorant children and regard this thrilling scene as a joke. Everyone who went to the border at that time spoke a few Russian words. My father used to take older students from Xitong Middle School, so my mother bought him a casual black fox collar cotton-padded coat. Chinese and Soviet personnel had a heated debate on the ownership of Treasure Island across the tree-lined border. China people ran out of Russian, and both sides gestured. The scene is like a deaf-mute quarrelling, which is very funny.
At that time, Soviet soldiers held a wooden stick in their hands (at that time, both governments were unwilling to use weapons first and provoke war, which was condemned by the whole world, so Soviet soldiers held a wooden stick in their hands). They are burly and violent, and they often hurt and kill our border guards and border residents when patrolling. Later, a number of new recruits were transferred to our border guards. Whenever we see Soviet soldiers beating our personnel, we rush to give them a fat beating, which makes them dizzy and unconscious. I don't understand how soldiers in China suddenly became so effective. From then on, when I met the China patrol, I behaved myself and never dared to be arrogant again. Legend has it that these recruits are all martial arts masters transferred from the mainland.
In those years, the people on the border prepared for war, and every family dug bomb shelters. There is one more course in the school-knowledge of preventing nuclear weapons, and physical education class changed to practice bayonets. Each student takes a stick and two people practice. Although I am only a sophomore, I am brave and resourceful. Zippers are often made in the company, and the bell often rings suddenly in the middle of the night. In a few minutes, the whole company lined up to run up the mountain and climbed over the mountains, so tired that it was still not bright. I once heard an adult tell a joke that the short and tall militia in the dormitory wore the wrong pants in the dark. The short trousers stumbled all the way, and the high trousers clung to their legs and could not run.
Especially in Chang, Soviet flares flashed across the sky like fireworks, and flares flew out from time to time in the mountains around the company. Soviet agents must have infiltrated China. One night, my mother took my brother and me through the oil tank area of the company, and a red flare suddenly rose behind the big oil tank 100 meters away. I shouted in horror: "There is a spy!" "My mother dragged my brother and me and ran home without looking back. I blamed my mother for not catching the spy. My mother said that in order to protect my brother and me, she had to run away. In those years, the border areas were always shrouded in the tension of the upcoming war, and people were worried.
From primary school to high school, military training has never stopped. Live ammunition training began in high school. The class is divided into three groups: rifles, submachine guns and machine guns. Because of my poor eyesight, I was assigned to the machine gun group. In the afternoon, the whole class will train in groups, and other students will practice aiming and shooting. I can only disassemble the machine gun into eight pieces, clean it carefully and oil it. If not, I will sweep the machine gun for a while (no bullets) and practice throwing grenades in my spare time. Fake grenades are a little heavier than real grenades. I practiced for more than two months, and I can only throw about 25 meters.
Finally, I looked forward to the day of live-fire shooting. The coach asked us to shoot with the riflemen, and I was blind. First, I didn't practice at ordinary times. Second, my eyes are not good. I shot three times on the field, two times hit the target's forehead, and one shot flew away. * * * ten ring is at the bottom of the class, which is very embarrassing. I can't wait to find a place to disappear. The next day, a Grenade test was conducted. A large mound more than one meter high was piled in the center of the site. The whole class was lying in the trunk ditch hundreds of meters away, and the students threw grenades one by one. It's my turn I stood behind the mound. The coach took the ring of the Grenade out of the back handle and put it on my little finger. My heart almost jumped into my throat. I think, I must throw it far away and don't blow myself up. Then I stepped back a dozen paces and sprinted forward. With a wave of his arm, the Grenade flew out, and my coach and I immediately squatted under the mound with a bang. Two minutes later, the target reporter shouted: "Thirty-six meters!" Among the girls in my class, I won the first prize in bombing, and finally I am proud! The fear of death can actually stimulate a person's superpowers. A male classmate was so nervous that the Grenade was thrown behind him. Fortunately, the coach wisely dragged him to the other side of the mound and survived. But the next day, rubella broke out on his face, swollen into a pie, and his classmates said he was scared.
Children living in the Great Northern Wilderness along the Wusuli River grew up in a tense environment to prepare for famine. How they long for a peaceful and peaceful life!
Today, the country across the Ussuri River has been renamed Russia. China and Russia have turned hostilities into friendship and established profound good-neighborly and friendly relations. Trade between the two countries is booming, and the two peoples need each other's goods. Walking on the streets of Raohe River, you will be surrounded by groups of beautiful Russian men. When you wander in the trade market, Russians can buy big bags and small bags everywhere; When you pass through Raohe Sino-Russian trade port with simplified procedures, you can bring back all kinds of Russian native products with you. The endless Wusuli River has a long history, which has become a link connecting the friendship between the Chinese and Russian peoples and nurtured people from different countries on both sides of the strait. The people live and work in peace and contentment, and their lives are stable and happy.
Peace is a happy and sweet song, full of happy chapters; Peace is a peaceful picture of spring, depicting favorite colors; Peace is the seed of peace and harmony, handed down from generation to generation!
"The Wusuli River is very long and blue. Hezhe people spread thousands of networks and lived happily for thousands of years. " This song has been ringing in my ears for nearly fifty years, and it is also a heartfelt voice. Although the years have passed, the water of Wusuli River flows in in my heart forever.
