The series of micro-movies "Existence" is a little different. Although the story is not very rich, at least it focuses on young people who are struggling to face widespread pressure. The sadness and helplessness between them and reality, the choices and commitments they have to face, their love and life.

In 2012, heavy rains in Beijing disrupted traffic and damaged the economy. 79 people were killed. At that time, a car was submerged in water in Guangqumen. A young man who was struggling in Beijing left and lost his place forever. A future to work towards. The film appropriated this incident, but adapted it to show all the pain of the post-80s generation through the victim’s girlfriend.

After the heroine lost her boyfriend, she was discussing marriage with a rich second-generation man. The parents of both parties discussed the future at the dinner table, but the heroine Xia Ai finally chose to leave. She still had no way to follow this If she continues on the path the world has arranged for her, if she could die tomorrow, is there any point in struggling? If we follow the steps step by step, what is the value of life?

The heroine ran away from marriage because her ex-boyfriend once solemnly said, "If there is no end of the world, I will propose to Xia Ai on Mount Everest on November 11, 2012." This is the explanation of the movie. After all, images are limited. Xia Ai is confused not only about love, but also about life.

On the road, she met Amu, who was also walking as a disciple, a man who could not bear the squeeze of city life and ran away. His wife was looking for him on Weibo, and she was already three months pregnant. Xia Ai asked him why. He held his head, cowardly and frankly, feeling powerless in the face of reality. He had no house or car, and a new life was about to begin. Now that he is a husband and a father, he has no self-confidence and doesn't know what to do. This has nothing to do with love, but responsibility and reality. As a bystander, Xia Ai saw just one of the young people who were struggling. Like herself, in a world filled with a sense of adrift, how could she go on when she turned around and faced reality?

Later, Amu went back, and he had to face his commitments and responsibilities. Everyone has to face it. Xia Ai continued on the road and saw Mount Everest and Lake Namtso. Facing the empty and beautiful lake, she shouted out her boyfriend's promise, the promise about marriage. At the end of the video, when she turned around, her boyfriend was right in front of her. Maybe he was dead and this was just Xia Ai's hallucination; maybe he was rescued, but saw that Xia Ai was already talking about marriage, so he silently backed away. This is an open ending, a heartwarming ending, but does this ending really exist? Can the pain of those born in the 1980s really be soothed?

Most people’s lives before the age of eighteen are the result of their parents’ desires. What you want to do and how to do it are beyond the imagination of people with no social experience. At this time, parents become our God. They do everything, they are forceful and unreasonable. Being in the situation we were in at that time, we could not immediately understand the good intentions of our parents, so we entered the rebellious period. In fact, rebellion came to us. Because we know that more than 80% of people across the country are doing jobs they don’t like, and like us, most people have no chance to enter the poor ten percent. We saw ourselves at that time, we should be like parents and elders.

At the class reunion twenty years after graduation, everyone is reminiscing about the past. Some people regret that they did not study well when they were in school, so that they do not have a good job now; some regret that they did not pursue the girl they liked, so that they have not found true love now; and some regret that they did not resolve the misunderstanding with their friends, so that in the past twenty years, of indifference. "Existence" may not have such a tortuous and gorgeous plot, but it tells us a plain truth: Who doesn't regret anything in life? And we have the right to choose our own path to youth.
