The movie "BIG FISH" was translated as "Big Wisdom Like a Fish". I got the D9 version of it on April 8, 2004. After watching the complete movie, I stood up from the sofa. I applauded this film in my living room.

I guess I'm in a good but bad era where every story has been filmed more than once. The person behind me is probably trapped in the vast ocean of film---I mean there will come a time when a person will spend his entire life and not finish watching all the films that have been produced. And I was lucky, because I caught up with some good films and heard some good stories, and these stories will probably not be reshot because of their profound meaning.

"BIG FISH" is one of them.

I think the Chinese translation of this film is "Big Fish". Although this name is too plain and unpretentious, which is not conducive to theater sales, I believe that anyone who has carefully watched this film and was deeply moved by it will agree with me: there are only two words "Big Fish" The title completely aptly expresses the content of the film, its dreamy tone. "Big Fish" is not for everyone, it is for everyone who wants to understand their father.

The movie "Big Fish" tells the life story of a father, full of magic, metaphors and dreams. In the first hour and thirty minutes, it can be viewed as a magical version of "Forrest Gump". It will never be boring, but will only be deeply attracted by those colorful fantasies. And in the last ten minutes, the most critical time for telling the story, just like the fireworks dissipated, the sheng and Xiao stopped, and the stars appeared in the night sky, spotless. You just feel that at that moment, you understand all the stars, but you can't speak.

"BIG FISH" is speechless and touching.

I don’t know how girls understand their father. I am a man. I think most men have a similar mental journey: when we were children, our father was an omnipotent god. He has strong arms that can lift us high, he has a prickly beard that makes hugs sting, he can answer all your questions and he knows everything. . . . . . Then, we gradually discovered that they are not omnipotent. When facing the world, they have as many troubles and confusions as us. They retreat from our lives little by little, because they are no longer so important, because we are slowly able to use them. Carry the sky on your own shoulders.

There may still be fights, because we disdain them living like that. We feel that we are stronger and smarter than them, and we are unwilling to follow the path they set. Although years later, we finally realized that they did it out of love, and a lot of it was proved to be correct. The war between father and son continued until the family planning policy allowed the family to produce a sole heiress.

In this kind of battle that lasts for thousands of years, there is no worst case scenario, only worse. The father in "BIG FISH" has been a big talker for decades. During his decades of bragging, he repeated his big lies countless times, which made people tired, embarrassed and irritated. From the perspective of a son (I am still a son, not a father), I think there is every reason to believe that having such a father is a natural disaster and a misfortune for the family.

The absurd thing is that it seems that the whole world is against the son before he becomes a father. Everyone stood on the side of the big talker's father. They knew it was a lie, but they remained unmoved and seemed to be encouraging the old father to make a fool of himself. And the old father seemed to have more reasons to continue his big lies.

All fathers will die one day. Maybe his son will break down the door of his house and go far away because of a quarrel, but he will always come back on that day, and the war between men will always be reconciled. All fathers are patient, they are old and have plenty of time to wait for reconciliation.

All sons will ask a question when they grow up and have been busy working and living for many years. Facing their old father whose life is slowly dying, they all want to ask the same question: Who is this dying man? What has he done? What was his life like? Because a son is bone of his father’s bones and flesh of his flesh, people always ask themselves: Where did I come from? We cannot come from myths and legends. In this way, we who are rational will lose our focus.

The big talker father in "BIG FISH" still answers with his fairy tales. The son has to find out the truth on his own and discover who his father is and what he has done. To find the big fish, the biggest catfish his father had said many times, the catfish that no one could catch.

I can swear to God that at the end of the film, my father really turned into a big fish, and I am sure that is true, and it has nothing to do with my tearful eyes. Even in the flash of tears, I insisted that everything my father said was true.

In this world, only outside of the people you love, you need to distinguish between true and false. There are various explanations for things in life. The so-called truth may be the most boring and unacceptable. And people who paint the outside of their lives with the colors of the rainbow deserve respect and trust because of their love.

I remember my son finally said:

Have you ever heard a joke so many times that you forgot why it was funny?

But when you listen to it again, suddenly it becomes new again.

So, you remember why you fell in love with it in the first place.

I think that was my father's last joke.

My father told that story so many times that he became the story.

In this way, after his death, the story still circulated, and he became an immortal legend.

At the end of the film, on the river shrouded in dreamlike blue mist, a big fish suddenly jumped out of the water, full of life and unlimited freedom. And the endless river water continues to flow forward in silence, seemingly illusion and reality.
