1, merit belongs to merit and will not be offset by your career. But if you started your career before, it won't be offset by your later achievements. The two are not positive and negative.

Therefore, everyone says that we should repent first, and when all the previous sins are repented, the merits we have done on this basis are pure goodness, otherwise they will be mixed, because most ordinary people's thoughts are creating evil.

2. Do you simply listen to Buddhist songs? If you listen to Buddhist songs just like listening to pop songs, because they are good and can calm your mood, I don't think this is a merit. Suppose you are getting married. This is a personal opinion.

If you recite the scriptures, recite the Buddha's name, set free, seal the scriptures, and make a vow to benefit all beings/altruism, you are doing merit. If you help the old, the weak, the sick and the pregnant, you are accumulating blessings. Regardless of merit and fortune (the distinction between merit and fortune is professional, so we won't study it), we can all say that we are doing good deeds and getting good results.

Is it too formal to say that listening to Buddhist songs? But if you make a wish before listening to the song: May all beings have confidence in Buddhism when they hear this Buddhist song, plant the seeds of Bodhisattva and make them convert to the Three Treasures, and the karma will gradually disappear, get happiness from suffering and step into the road of liberation. If you make such a wish, it's a good deed.

Or, as you wrote in the original text: You wish all living beings can give up greed and ignorance after hearing these Buddhist songs. With this single thought and will, they are also doing good deeds.

Any altruistic behavior and thought is to do good deeds and get good results.

Any behavior and thoughts that hurt him are evil and will have bad consequences.

Therefore, people's hearts are very important. If you get up every morning and make a wish that I live for the benefit of all beings, then you are doing good (of course, you have done bad things, such as smoking and drinking, so it can't be counted)

If you don't make such a wish, then your life is neither good nor bad, and you have no plan, unless you do the bad or good things mentioned above, or don't do them.

3, smoking is directly a smog hell (sorry, this name is not the original, but the meaning is correct). I suggest you resign.

In Buddhism, the smoke of smoking immediately makes all good gods retreat. Think about it, dragon protector, can you do well without a good god? Even if you usually do great deeds, if the unjust debt mainly comes to you for revenge at this time, and there is no patron saint to protect you, you can take advantage of this gap to take revenge. So don't smoke.

From the perspective of secular law, smoking not only harms your health, but also makes others smoke second-hand smoke (which is more harmful than yourself). You have not done good in any way. (Ha ha, I personally hate smokers. It's not about faith. )
