Brother's dialect

In Qingdao dialect of Shandong Peninsula, "little brother" means young people, and generally appears in provocations and jokes. In some cases, it also refers to unhealthy young people who are idle in society. Similarly, in Qingdao, women are called "Little Mandy".

Qingdao's "little brother" is aimed at social idle youth and unhealthy teenagers. The word "little brother" didn't mean it at first, but because the word "man" in public address corresponds to a lady and the word "gentleman" corresponds to a lady. At first, the word "little brother" corresponds to a little brother, and of course a little sister should have a little brother. This is a neutral title. Later, because the first few people were called Xiao Ge, they jumped out in society, and then the word Xiao Ge was accused of being a bad teenager who was idle in society, with a derogatory meaning. Later, the word "little brother" was widely and affectionately used by people because of its hard work and contribution to society.

The "little brother" in Jiaodong refers to calling his brother, which is different from the big brother, because the little brother is usually the same age or one or two years older and is the closest playmate and brother. Later, it was extended to be a title of respect for ordinary peers. There is also a little sister (meir). Little sister and big sister are honorifics for women of the same age in Jiaodong, not just for young people. Little brother and little sister (Xiaoman) not only address young people, but also express their affection with age as a reference.

The "younger brother" in Northeast China refers to a relative older than himself, meaning elder brother.
