Indian mountain infantry: equipped with three different rifles
In the "Century Brigade" military exercise of the 27th Mountain Division announced by the Indian military, the infantry participating in the exercise participated in the "battle" on foot, and the same combat detachment was actually equipped with three rifles with different calibers, which surprised the military fans.
The third 10 year of the 20th century began. Rifle, the most basic gun in the basic infantry class of the Indian Army, is not uniform in caliber, and all kinds of rifle bullets cannot be used universally, which has become a taboo in battlefield operations.
The Indian infantry who participated in this mountain battle were equipped with the "Insas" rifle developed by their own country, fired a 5.56x45mm rifle, and used 30 magazines for ammunition. They can only fire one or three bullets, and have no function of continuous firing.
In the India-Pakistan-cargill conflict, Indian soldiers armed with Insas rifles were generally overwhelmed by AK-47 rifles fired by their opponents with 7.62x39mm medium-power rifles, and continued to fire fiercely.
The opportunity of actual combat testing shows that the performance of the domestic "Insas" 5.56 mm rifle, which is highly anticipated by the Indian military, can be said to be a mess on the battlefield. Three rifles, which wanted to save bullets, were basically only passively beaten when faced with rifles that fired repeatedly.
"Inssas" rifle made the same mistake as M- 16A2 rifle which emphasized three shots. In Afghanistan, Iraq and other battlefields, it was proved that it was madly manipulated by the old AK-47 rifle.
Stoner, the master of firearms design, is also very upset about the three bursts of the M- 16A2 rifle. There is nothing wrong with three explosions. The mistake is that the military high-level cancelled the automatic firing function of the M- 16A2 rifle, which is not suitable for the famous rifle M- 16A2.
SIG-7 16i rifle, developed by Swiss Institute of Military Industry and produced by Sig-Sauer, is somewhat similar in appearance to AR- 15. 7.62x5 1mm full-power rifle is fired, with a magazine capacity of 20 rounds and an effective range of 800- 1000 meters.
The 1 0,000 sig-716i rifle purchased by the Indian army is superior to the 5.56mm small caliber rifle currently used by the Indian army in terms of range, accuracy and power. When fighting at high altitude, the SIG-7 16i full-power rifle will also be obviously superior to the AK-47 7.62mm medium-power rifle equipped by the opponent.
The AK-47 rifle equipped by the Indian Army was imported from Bulgaria. It fires 7.62x39mm medium-power rifle ammunition with 30 magazines and an effective range of 300-400 meters.
It's a copy of the Soviet AK-47 assault rifle. It fires the same M43 7.62x39mm medium-power rifle as the Soviet-made AKM rifle equipped by the Indian Army. Single shot accuracy is high, and continuous shooting accuracy is low.
Indian infantry squad is equipped with three different types of rifle bullets, namely, 5.56x45mm small caliber rifle bullets, 7.62x5 1mm full-power rifle bullets and 7.62x39mm medium-power rifle bullets, as well as three different types of rifles "Insas", SIG-7 16i and AK-74.
Actually, Indian infantry are equipped with Swiss SG-550 rifle, Israeli TAR-2 1 rifle, Belgian FN F2000 rifle, American M-4A 1 carbine and Italian Bei Leita CX-4 carbine, all of which are 5.56x45mm caliber rifles.
Indian infantry are also equipped with Czechoslovakia Vz58 rifles, Soviet AKM rifles and Russian AK-203 assault rifles, all of which fire M43 7.62x39mm medium-power rifles. American SIG SG 7 16 precision shooter rifle fires 7.62x5 1mm full-power rifle bullets.
This is an extremely rare phenomenon all over the world. Indian infantry are equipped with "Wan Guo" guns. This paper only lists rifles and carbines that fire rifle bullets, but does not point out that Indian infantry are equipped with many submachine guns that fire different ammunition, such as Stirling, MSMC, Steyr TMP and HK MP5.
The Indian infantry squad is equipped with rifles, carbines and submachine guns, and the bullets are incompatible. This move will certainly increase the pressure on the wartime logistics supply department of the Indian army, and it is also not conducive to the general use of rifles and light machine gun bullets in the same combat unit.
Submachine gun, the "golden age" of World War II has long passed. For infantry, submachine guns become detachable firearms, especially with carbines, which are short automatic rifles. It is of little significance for infantry to be equipped with submachine guns. The 7.62/9mm pistol in active service is difficult to penetrate for infantry wearing bulletproof vests within the engagement distance of100m.
For the army that has been pursuing modernization, Indian infantry still has a long way to go, not to mention equipped with 155mm self-propelled and vehicle-mounted howitzers, and there is still great pressure on the Indian army. Traction artillery is still the main thing. It is most important for the Indian army to unify the bullet caliber of infantry guns in the grass-roots infantry class, which can change the impression that the Indian army is still equipped with "Wan Guo" guns.
