What are the historical allusions of Waterfall couplets in Tang Dynasty?

On one occasion, when Li Chen visited Lushan Mountain, he met a Zen master and they walked together. The old Zen master had a good eye for people and saw that Li Chen was not vulgar, which aroused the great interest of the old Zen master.

Seeing Lushan Waterfall, the old Zen master remembered Li Bai's famous sentence and had an idea. He said, "I want to learn from Li Bai and sing a poem for such a spectacular scenery." Li Chen became interested: "Please, Zen master."

Zen master: "Thousands of rocks and valleys spare no effort to see Gao Yuan from afar."

After these two sentences were sung, the Zen master stopped.

Li Chen still wanted to listen, but he was puzzled to see that Jackson had no intention of going down.

The Zen master smiled: "I have no talent. How about going on?"

Li Chen thought for a moment: "How can a stream stay? After all, the sea will make waves. "

When' tis once spoken, the old Zen master clapped his hands and believed his own judgment.
